Sugababes

When performing Red Dress, I never really got why Amelle was always left to carry the chorus on her own? Especially when they were originally promoting it and Amelle had been in the band for three seconds. She did a good job but it was slightly awkward.

I love that 1.0 sing it together now. It sounds so punchy.
I mean, it is how it is on the record.

I do miss the fact that half of it isn’t a solo because that means Mutya has no solos in “Red Dress” when they do it live but it was still a moment.

Proof is all in the interviews, you can find them in YouTube. Everything I wrote, Heidi said. Mutya has never came out and denied it. Yes she turned up at CDUK to 'wish them well' but that was not the time and place to ambush not only Heidi, but Amelle who had just joined. Completely inappropriate. Wrong time, wrong place. However, if this was all filmed it would have made great TV!
Fun fact: She didn't ambush them. I was there and their manager at the time was fully aware of Mutya's visit and had informed the girls. That day was filled with tension tho, but that was because Girls Aloud was also in the building... :')

I still can't to this day picture a Jade, Keisha, and Heidi line up. I wonder what vocally that would have sounded like? Especially since Jade would have had to take Amelle's low tones.
Vocally, Jade was always going to replace Keisha, so I have my reservations about this whole “she was chosen to replace Amelle” story line.
Heidi and Amelle were clearly stepping in for Siobhan and Mutya’s range and tone.

I never got the impression Jade was someone Crown had in mind for a while the way they did Amelle. She was in the midst of fully launching her own solo career at the time remember. I think Crown got caught a bit off guard and had to find someone quick, which maybe meant not getting as good a vocal match as they had in the past. And it would be even harder if even Crown weren't sure exactly who they were replacing at first, they just knew they needed someone. We know Jade didn't know who was going when she was first asked. It was probably as simple as "she's a good singer and her single is flopping, grab her."

Interesting, because if that was Jill Zarin, she would have felt ambushed! Why was there tension with Girls Aloud? Spill the tea

I agree that Jade was only ever going to replace Keisha. I think the talk was that Mutya would have replaced Amelle. The stunt doubles in About A Girl look like Keisha, Heidi, and Jade/Mutya.

I think Crown didn't have a replacement lined up for Heidi.

As far as I can recall from my conversation with Keisha that day, one of the issues was: Keisha felt like both bands working with Xenomania was making them "sound alike" and songs were being offered/shopped to both bands. So she was worried that the uniqueness of the Sugababes was disappearing a bit. Which I think she's talked about in later interviews as well.

It's a day I'll always remember. Cos I had met Sugababes 2.0 all over Europe at that point as a 17 yr old fan (including some really amazing personal experiences with the girls), so it was a shock to me that Mutya had left. But Mutya was leaving the CD:UK studio after seeing the girls, their manager saw me and she got out of the car to personally hug me, say sorry for not telling me that she was leaving last time she saw me (which had been not that long ago) and we took a picture together. Cut to 14 years later and Mutya was one of the headliners for the Pride I produce/stage manage. A proper full circle moment.

Nothing that has directly to do with the girls but I find it shocking that the main guy in the music video, you see him in the beginning and throughout the video, died by suicide less than 4 years later. I mainly knew him from his role in Rizzoli & Isles.

I think he was more so known for his role here

especially as it aired during the golden era of the Disney Channel

I can understand that. Didn't Cheryl attack All Saints for the very same thing?

Remember when I saw you at Mighty Hoopla and you said you didn’t care for any line up without Heidi?

Is that still valid?

I mean, 2.0 and 3.0 were the line-ups I grew up with and they made the music I’m most familiar with. I’ve never watched any interviews of her, that’s all!
