Survivor: S45 & 46

I decided very early in episode one I was going to stan Mary (with no real reason), so when she was on the wrong side of the first vote I was like welp...

These past two episodes have cemented my instincts were right to stan! I would absolutely love her and Sai to team up, but not sure I see it from Sai (who I am also really enjoying).

Okay so I just finished S2. Whew.

Tina the woman that you are. Colby had me barking at the screen several times. I liked that while there were moments of conflict and clear strategy, it never seemed to get too intense and especially once it reached the jury eliminations onwards, everyone appeared to have a genuine bond. After the reunion I had to look up Deb's backstory... girl. What?!

Oh and it took me about 7 episodes to realise who Elisabeth was. She was endearing - especially her dynamic with Rodger - but knowing who she becomes... ugh.

And now I just finished episode 1 of season 3 and this couldn't be more different in terms of energy dd.

I'm already halfway through season 3. This feels like a shift in some ways? It's kind of been dirty gameplay and warfare throughout, whereas that's really only shown up in spurts in previous seasons (Sue. vs Kelli in season 1 for example, and Rich obviously dd, Jerri and Colby playing each other).

I'm gagged at everyone voting Kelly off because Lex was delusionally convinced that she voted for him at the previous Tribal Council, when it was actually QUEEN Teresa. My flight attendant queen. I also loved the humbling of Silas - who wanted to reheat Colby's nachos so bad - and Lindsey.

I guess with more strategy happening, I understand that it needs more airtime, but I actually miss seeing and hearing more about the logistics of camp life from season 1 & 2. I'm sensing that's probably going to continue to drop off in focus from here on out, but I hope it doesn't completely disappear.

Sorry for the double post, but I'm rattling through this show at breakneck pace and absolutely loving it. The difficulty of dodging spoilers though is insane.

You're watching it at 2x speed?

I'm afraid to tell you that seasons 4 and 5 are gonna be quite dull nn but then 6 is a blast!

He/They
Drake sending another woman over to pillage the Morgan tribe, of a pot...
Those poor girls left hanging for two hours, Morgan'll all be gone first at this rate.

Okay but I just started 4 and I only knew him from Traitors... why is Boston Rob so hot?
Rob was in The Amazing Race and the recent Deal or No Deal Island too.

Minority here, I don't find the young Rob hot.

My all time Survivor hunk is still Brady Finta from Survivor Vanuatu (season 9).

Mother Mary sitting there cross-legged and unbothered in her chic geometric green sweater as her tribe and the game itself descends into nightmare game theory chaos around her! Jeff and production design spending all their time making great dice beautiful dice and not thinking about how they'd actually work! Cedric the Useless being the first person to vote for every single person on his tribe in one tribal council! Thomas being a shady, evil queen we could stan for once! Does this season actually have some juice who could never be sure?!

Wow, I wasn’t expecting Thomas to be out so soon. I thought they were setting him up to be a power player. Would’ve liked to see him last a bit longer because it’s fun to have a mean queen on Survivor, but Kamila and Kyle ate that.

Oof. I thought I'd be sadder to see Thomas go but Kamilla cushioned the blow by rising to the occasion with her damsel in distress theatrics. Loving her.

Sai is growing on me just a bitsy but maybe that's because we didn't spend an entire episode on her tribe for once. The preview of her walking out of the water, wiping a knife on her dress like she just slit someone's throat and tossed them into the ocean with the voice over "Sai is causing chaos!" absolutely sent me.

Well sisters, I caught up last night!

The premieres are largely the weakest part of the modern seasons and this was no exception, but thank god things got moving pretty quickly after that. Sai literally chasing Mary by episode 3, why was "I can see youuuu" so funny?! I was frustrated with the former being an asshole but then she immediately turned on Cedrek at the swap so I'd like to see her stick around.

Kamilla is one to watch though, sussing out Thomas's lie and exposing it to the tribe was great. And then the way they played that tribal with the immunity idol, great work.

This is shaping up to continue the momentum of the last two seasons. The modern era isn't perfect but it's been remarkably consistent given how deep we are into this series.

Shauhin...unfortunately I would til the room stinks.

Double post but I rebuke this! Season 4 is a quiet storm but has some incredibly compelling personalities (Sean being a one time player is insane) and then Season 5 is the dark but absolutely fascinating as a slow burn psychological deep dive. It's a season that could never exist in our current landscape but if you let yourself sink into Thailand it's really rewarding.

Survivor China remains my most favorite Survivor theme song ever, followed closely by Survivor China, though.

Are you gonna catch up with all the seasons until Season 48? How did you finish watching all these episodes so fast?

Love China, top 5 season for me!

And I was just remarking on the seasons in question, I’ve been watching this show since 2001 and have seen all the seasons already nn.

Damn, poor little Jenny Slate getting her ass handed to her in the 11th hour for opening up to Cedrek. She was certainly in the clear until her conscious got the better of her. Living for the Survivor Gods consistently blessing Sai despite her best efforts to have everyone hate her; it's kind of hilarious.

At first, I thought he was stupid for that decision, but Cedrek got to have his cake and eat it too with aligning himself with Chrissy & Mitch while keeping Sai in his back-pocket. I do think Bianca could've been a good ally for him but at that point everyone on the tribe wanted to work with him and Bianca was the easiest loss to cut.

Queen Mary makes it to the (ridiculously early) merge! Will she maximize her joint-slay with Sai? Probably not judging by the latter’s rant this week but we’ll see ddd

I pretty much groan at every attempt at a Survivor Moment™ but I got genuinely choked up at Eva’s this week. Joe is a good one for that.

Eva’s been rubbing me the wrong way a bitsy with her anti-women attitude and vendetta against Star, but boy, she got me with the tears this episode. I couldn’t stop myself from crying. The moment with Star giving her the idol was lovely too.

I’ll try to give her the benefit of the doubt that she was likely bullied or mistreated by female peers growing up and struggles to fit in with them.
