Tate McRae - "Sports car" + So Close To What (Feb 21)

I like that she was honest about not seeing Britney as her main icon when it’s been such a talking point around her.
The way I’m not even a Tot and this discourse has somehow flooded my social media this week.

The millennial gay men that are clearly shepherding her career have stitched her right up. They’ve created this illusion that she’s Britney’s protégé (to the point of dressing her in Britney cosplay for the VMAs) when she’s a generation too young to be stanning. She’s 21, not 31.

It's been pretty obvious for a while now that the whole "paying homage to Britney and Christina" thing is her label's idea and not hers. The moment I realized this was when she went to the VMA's dressed exactly like Britney without even knowing she was dressed like Britney. Her team is sneaking the references in without her knowledge.

That interview is being blown way out of proportion on Twitter. She said Britney was a clear influence. The question was about her main pop influences from childhood...she wasn't even alive during the era she's referencing.

Selena has a more pleasant tone than Tate if we want to give her her flowers, though! Imagine the latter singing Good For You, you can’t.

This has me by the absolute neck because that chorus is such a rush and I am also falling in love with this man whose 2 hands are so big…

I’d love it if this whole effort pushed her up to the level Sabrina and Chappell broke out to this past year. The bops are bopping.

(Millennial) gays in general should stop putting Britney on a pedestal teebs.
Why? During her prime, she was one of the best to ever do it. She deserves her flowers just as much as Gaga, Rihanna etc. If you don't personally like her, just say that instead of trying to diminish her well earned place among the greats.
