Taylor Swift - 1989

It seems like it's time for a thread about this.

She was announced as a headliner at the iHeartRadio Music Festival this year on September 19th and 20th, and I doubt she'll just be trotting out old material for that.

In addition, in Billboard's article about the festival, they say: "Swift, Usher, Minaj and Harris are among this year's return performers, and are all prepping major releases for the fourth quarter, which iHeartRadio has helped labels and managers tee off for three years running."

Plus this:

If she follows her usual release calendar, then we're probably getting a single next month.

As a major fan of Taylor as a country music artist the latter half of that article has me worrying somewhat.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

I personally think she should have stuck with the 'Red' formula of a few commercial singles and then the rest 'typical Taylor' if she wanted to continue working with him, it worked oit well last time.

That's the thing that bothers me the most about Red. It's like two totally different albums packaged into one. Like she released a typical Taylor album, it flopped, so she stuck on a few new Max Martin songs and rereleased it. Only if that was the case, at least there'd be a reason for the inconsistency.

Personally I feel like Red is her worst album yet, which is a shame because until then, each of her albums was better than the last.

I dunno, maybe it's a grower. I haven't listened to it much.

Red is definitely not an album of two halves. Everything works so well together, and she thrives in the likes of 'We Are Never...' Just as much as 'All Too Well'.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

A Max Martin-produced Taylor Swift album sounds right up my alley. I just hope they don't get too crazy with the beats. Keep Swift acoustic. I Knew You Were Trouble was a smart move, but one is more than enough.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

I don't really care tbh, all I want is some great Taylor songs, and I know she can deliver.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

I'm nervous, I can't lie. But she's never let me down in the past, so I'm keeping the faith and hoping she delivers another incredible album. At least with Max on board for the majority, it means we'll likely avoid another Stay Stay Stay.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

There are far too many negatives to think about, so in my mind, Max = Since U Been Gone, and that's what we'll be getting. Give me those power-pop/rock anthems that I love. 22 who?

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

Taylor and Max Martin sounds like more gorgeous melodies to me and I'm all for that. Just don't throw the kitchen sink on the production.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

So there's a rumour going around that the lead single to this might be heard tomorrow?! I would die if true.

Also, come vote in the Taylor Swift rate!

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

Haha I didn't even realise that she would be overshadowing those girls. Poor Bad Gal Ari, poor Hilary.

I need this to be true, I've been deprived of new Taylor for too long. We're a couple weeks off from when We Are Never..., but only a few days earlier than we heard Mine. In any case - there should be new Taylor very shortly. Aaah.

I'm sure it's coming very soon. She doesn't tend to build these things up a lot, does she?

Also the last.fm link in your bio doesn't work!

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

I remember Mine was hyped up, as expected considering what she achieved with Fearless. There was a countdown and everything, and then The Original Pop Emergency took place when it leaked two weeks early.

They learned their lesson though with We Are Never, that was when The Original BEYONCE took place.

Iconic legend remains forward-thinking and game-changing with every move.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

I hope it's more 'We Are Never' then 'Mine' in the sense that the former was such new ground for Taylor whereas the latter was a straight-up 'Fearless' leftover.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

The prospect of a new single so soon makes me very happy. I haven't really missed her since she's taken a break but I am such a fan of her albums so this has rekindled my excitement.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

So excited about this one. I bought Speak Now on a whim (Mine was the song that really drew my attention to her and I still adore it today) and that started my Taylor fandom. For me, the best songs on Red were the ones she wrote herself. If there's anyone who didn't need Max Martin, it was Taylor.

Not relevant to the topic but Never Grow Up brings me to tears every single time.

Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

I can't even fathom having a new single tomorrow. Tears will be shed. Weaves will be ungrafted. Careers will be slain. Come deliver us from the male-dominated Top 40 Queen Slaylor, into a beautiful new promised land.

We're best friends now, okay? Okay.
