I don't think a surprise release would work as well for her. I mean it would still be extremely successful. Country artists still get strong sales from physical sales. Her fans age range I think it a bit bigger too. She has fans that are really young but then middle-aged fans as well. Where as I get the impression Beyonce's is mainly 16-30 year old which works for a surprise itunes release.

I think the surprise release could be digital for a week or so, then get the physical out the next...which could mean even more sales, really. I really think / hope this will be the case.

What do you guys think we'll get TAYLOR or Taylor Alison?

Basically this. Her position in the industry doesn't call for it.

  5. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

She would be the only artist right now who wouldn't suffer from a surprise release, I think ... well, maybe Adele too.

  6. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

There's talk on Twitter that this wont be a love song.

  7. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

    A horn!? Oh no.

  8. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

Isn't that exactly what Beyoncé did, but then Amazon and Target or some other store refused to sell the album.

  9. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

That honestly sounds terrible but I'm sure I'll end up liking it.

  10. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

"They say I date too much & can't make em stay!"

  11. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

    Oh yeah, you're right.

Welllll what if she surprise released it digitally AND physically the same day? Eh?

  12. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

    Horns?

    Counting my footsteps
    Praying songwriting won't fall through
    Again

  13. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

That description sounds awful, of course.

  14. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

Apparently the song is titled "Shake it up"

  15. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

Horns? This better not sound anything like Biffa Tweedy's latest offering.

  16. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

I'm a little worried it won't sound like a Taylor Swift song.

  17. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

Horns. This is a Max Martin track, isn't it?

  18. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

I'm picturing "Game of Love" by Santana/Michelle Branch with a harder, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" beat. + mariachi horns.

  19. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

Huge bridge, non-chorus + saxophone breakdown. 'Bookmark me', etc.

  20. Re: Taylor Swift - Fifth Album

It has been confirmed by Jeff that the song is entitled 'Shake It Off'.
