Taylor Swift - Midnights

Yeah, just going to echo what others have been saying about her videos being too literal - there’s nothing particularly creatively surprising or interesting about this video, it’s all fairly basic and uninspired. She looks great though and the costuming/album aesthetic continues to be a winner. Just wish she had a better visual eye for these kinds of things.

Easily one of her mos beautifully shot videos and she looks effortlessly sensual, it’s not ground breaking but it fits the song and it’s cute.

Announce Speak Now TV!!!

I think there’s a huge appetite for Taylor right now but Midnights being so successful and depending how well Lavender Haze does is she at risk of over saturation content wise?

If there’s any singles from Speak Now it might get messy but she is relatively low profile so that make even it out.

I do really want Speak Now and 1989 this year though, they both deserve to be events of their own.

I think she’s doing a really great work as a director. The ideas are fairly “simple” and straightforward, but that would probably be the same if she was writing with someone else directing.

She has a great eye for capturing the visuals, great casting… like some of you said, this is the most effortlessly sexy she looked in a video. Like, ever. And it’s hard to be infront and behind the camera at same time when you have to coordinate everything happening and not look riled up.

I don’t know maybe I’m just fucking glad she banished Kahn and his Marvel-Battle tactics from her life and she’s developing her own style. Even the overly use of CGI feels more refined and well crafted than the stuff from Reputation and Lover.

We just need her to stop getting through pianos/televisions/portals for other dimensions. And focus on some other themes outside the “portrait of relationship phases” or “fairytales”.

He / Him / His
Agree with the general sentiment that her self-directed videos tend to lack in the imagination department but the 180 I’ve done on this track since release… whew.

What initially felt inessential has really blossomed into arguably the most accomplished embodiment of the album’s intended soundscape for me.

She probably is at risk of oversaturation a little, but on the other hand, Enchanted and/or Haunted need and deserve the All Too Well treatment!

Both! And also Sparks Fly deserves it, in fact it’s one of her most “underrated” albums. Give us a visual album.

The video is such a mood, I absolutely love it. I’d much rather get videos like this than Joseph Kahn dog and pony show nonsense.

I will say that Blank Space and Look What You Made Me Do are probably still her best videos for me, the latter being one of my favorite videos of the decade, but yeah his style got overly self-indulgent fast. Ready For It was the biggest example of that.
