The Great War and the bridge of Hits Different seem to imply there was some huge fight/break-up prior to Midnights, but they ultimately made up (temporarily). He was still posting pictures of her cats/inside of her apartment as recently as February - but it’s clear at this point they were having problems for a while before the ~official~ breakup.So many of the Midnights songs sound like they were written about the Joe breakup, especially Maroon, Midnight Rain, Hits Different, Bejeweled, The Great War, Sweet Nothing, and Bigger Than the Whole Sky. This is probably Swiftie conspiracy theory thinking but I feel like they broke up much earlier than it was announced.
Which makes her surprise appearance at the 1975 concert in January all the more interesting…nn.
