Taylor Swift - The Tortured Poets Department

I actually love what he said though, even if it was in a very Jack way. The album is so very much about being in it, embracing the full intensity of the emotions you're going through and letting it all out unfiltered. The second half is a bit more poised, but the first half is pretty volatile. It shows a side of her we haven't seen since like...Red maybe? I appreciate that it's just unfiltered wallowing in her feelings without a true filter of trying to come across any certain way. She's great at storytelling and crafting a song, but I think some of her best skills are in describing such specific situations/feelings.

I don't follow online Swiftie numerology very closely, so I don't know if this is a novel idea. But it seems like she is counting down 3-2-1-0 to her 13th album with the most recent albums? Midnights 3am, Tortured Poets double album (2). It's seemed obvious since her promo for Tortured Poets but I am interested to see how this plays out. Maybe I've just been too conditioned to read into these things with her?

This album just kind of came and went didn’t it.

I understand she’s on tour and a very big one by the way but this didn’t feel like an era in the way midnights did

I know she’s been everywhere for so long now so I can’t really complain too much but it is a little frustrating that this album campaign hasn’t amounted much more to all the variants.

I really still believe this is some of her best work so to not get a full era is a shame, even if I understand why it hasn’t.

So rumour has it (can't find the source, but apparently it's been sent to radio in Germany?) that So High School is the new single.

This would make me so happy. It's a sound fresh enough to feel like it's pushing her into a new soundscape while sounding intrinsically Taylor. Still my favourite from the album by a long shot.

Also can we just stan Azealia Banks just tweeting that she hopes Taylor pushes herself into a Michelle Branch "pop rock" /Anna Nalick "sultryness" type of sound for the next album? Taste because funnily enough So High School gives exactly that.

I would really love a new major contributor on her next full album. Similar to how Aaron came on board, she could keep him and Jack around and split the contributions somewhat evenly? I still think Jack hits with her more than he misses so I don’t think him stepping away should happen (and it won’t). I just think a fresh perspective would work wonders in pushing her someplace new, if that’s what she wants.

The Taylor song Azealia likes being Shake It Off....

Anyways, I just realized something inch-resting. Taylor recorded Fresh Out the Slammer, Florida!!! and Who's Afraid of Little Old Me in Esplanade Studios in New Orleans. She was there for her birthday in December 2022 to visit Joe (who was there filming a movie). The relationship must have had a reaaally slow death for her to still be with him(ish) at the time but writing songs about wanting to break free from the relationship and go to Matty (who she had recently re-connected with at that point).

Of course it's possible that they were working on the idea for a song that she re-wrote the lyrics of later on, but I don't know girls.
