I wouldn't necessarily mind it, but her going (back to) country, especially at a time the genre is so popular there are a number of non-country artists jumping on the genre for easy hits/a career second wind (and before anyone starts, I'm not talking about Beyoncé, I mean artists like Post Malone or the Jonas Brothers) would be quite boring. Either a big capital P pop album or some sort of left-field turn would be much more interesting.

I don’t see her leaving pop fully for TS12. Something in the vein of So High School would be amazing. Early 00s pop rock would suit her song writing style beautifully. It wouldn’t be a stretch to get Jack to match that vibe too since we know she’s keeping him around. Aaron could handle that style in his sleep, too. I’d also like to see some more collaborators, even if it’s just for a handful of tracks.

I was thinking that the online discussions around her award show antics were much more positive yesterday then they’ve been in a bit. A literal “we love her again” moment, now that she didn’t win.

I think her next album should be something dance oriented. It’s the one area of pop she’s never really explored so it would be fresh for her and I do think she needs to take this power and go imperial pop phase again.

When I say dance I mean something like her cover of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow or something like I Love You Always Forever. Breezy, a little 90’s, a little ethereal. Something that feels at home for her but would also make her music exciting.

I don’t need a pop rock album in the vein of Hits Different etc anymore cuz I already know what it will sound like. She needs to breathe new life into this discography.

I went to this video on YouTube to refresh my ears and the top comment was "I hope something like this is the vibe for her next album!" and everyone was congratulating them for being right... referring to Tortured Poets. Not quite sure how people connected those two vibes but good for them I guess!
