  1. Winning that 30 minute game with like 15 deuces to break serve. And for what.

  2. Obviously sad for Serena but I'm really gutted about Berrettini withdrawing and then Felix losing.

We're already running low on candidates to stop yet another Novak victory and it's only one round in.

  3. Novak looks super stressed to me - I think we’re a lot closer to a Rafa victory and calendar slam than people realize.

  4. I’ve really missed Serena’s passion for the game. You can see it in how she lets all her emotions out on the court. Nobody on the tour wants to win as much as she does. Someone’s gotta shake up the WTA in her absence, the current crop of players is so dry and uninteresting dd.

  5. I think Cressy is definitely a dark horse for a deep run on the men’s side. Especially after getting to the final in Eastbourne and today’s upset win over Auger-Aliassime.

  8. Carnage in the women's draw today, albeit most of it either excusable (Kontaveit, long COVID) or expected (Muguruza, #48 in the race). Raducanu's loss was not exactly surprising either - she just can't seem to handle a game as physical as Garcia's.

The top of the women's game outside of Swiatek is very disordered at the moment. The entire top 5 from 2021 has either retired (Barty), gotten seriously injured (Pliskova, Krejcikova), or slumped in baffling fashion (Muguruza, Sabalenka), and I don't think the Kontaveit/Badosa/Jabeur/Sakkari group are up to the task of replacing them.

  9. The women's game needs:
    • Coco to continue her rise
    • Naomi to get her head straight and knuckle down consistently
    • Bianca to stay fit and competitive
    • Emma to ignore the media shitstorm and grow into the player she could be
    • Amanda to continue her recent gains
    • Iga to keep on doing what she's doing, albeit with improved competition
This is what the future needs to look like. Having someone like Kontaveit, whose slam record is abominable and who most people outside of the tennis die-hards couldn't pick out of a lineup, at number 2 is doing zilch for the WTA tour.

  10. I feel like Serena took the air out of the tournament with her, and then Emma losing in straights kind of deflated it even more.

I like Iga, but so far, she really lacks charisma on court; her most interesting match was when she was stressed as fuck having a breakdown against Qinwen.

And I could say the same for the men. Yes, Rafa and Novak are here, but it’s all kind of, been here, seen that.

  11. I've been glued to the Wimbledon coverage for the first three days but the players I've been invested in have been knocked out. And the thought of another Rafa and Novak final doesn't excite me.

  12. Yeah I’m in the same boat. Especially with Andy losing to Isner of all people, I’ve lost a lot of interest.

I’d love to see Ons win so that’s what I’m holding on to.

  13. For some reason I can't picture a Novak-Rafa final, but I'm having an even harder time trying to work out who's going to stop it. With only half the second round played, looking at the remaining players who have reached a Wimbledon quarter final before, you have a group of veterans who have never laid a glove on Novak or Rafa when it really counted, or in some cases ever (Isner, Gasquet, Bautista Agut, Goffin), then you have Shapovalov who is 0-7 against Novak, and...Kyrgios.

As for the women, if ever the likes of Kerber, Halep or Kvitova fancied grabbing another slam they may not get a better chance.

  14. The Murray Isner match was sooooo boring omg. Nothing but a bunch of aces, botched returns, and shots straight into the net.

  15. No ranking points makes it all seem less interesting to me, typical that the Brits on the fringe of the top 100 are doing well and won't get into the top 100 this Wimbledon.

  16. Great year for Cornet at the majors so far I must say. Her first ever Grand Slam quarterfinals in Melbourne and ending Iga’s winning streak at Wimbledon!

  17. Gauff is also out:
