Is it? I'd say the women's draw at this stage is one of the least shambolic we've seen at a slam in recent years. If anything, the men's side is in far worse shape.

Agreed. There hasn’t been any truly shocking results so far, and there’s still so many potential great outcomes for the WTA here.

Iga needs to bounce back from this, of course, but I’m confident she will. Again, it’s all good for the WTA if the girls can keep it up - and so far this slam is showing positive signs that finally some of them can.

And she knows that!

I haven't watched much of this AO yet because timezones but I'll try to catch up on the second week. Jelena, Aryna or Caroline winning it all would make me so happy!

Jelena is so hard to live with when she's on. I just wish she was more consistent.

For all her tour success, her talent and the fact that she clearly wants it badly, I'm Team Sabalenka for this one.

The women's draw is a complete mess, but there are still two great viable, "this is what the tour needs" winners left.

The men's draw is also a complete mess, the likes of which they haven't seen in a long time, and in their case, there's one ideal winner, a couple likable breakthroughs, one perfectly acceptable, and one (very unlikely) big WOW moment left.

I'm not using names, because I've learned too much from this thread's notorious jinxing power.

NOT Magda Linette winning against Garcia! I mean, I love to see it. Who'd have thought she'd be the last Pole standing with Iga and Hubert gone? Amazing. It'll be super interesting to see her play against Pliskova. Keeping my fingers crossed for her!

Vika being in the semis warms my heart. Such an enjoyable player to watch, and at 33 she seems to have plenty in the tank. Praying she clinches that third slam title!

After watching Magda play today I can say with certainty that she has all it takes to take out Sabalenka. She's been relentless.

She's done brilliantly to get this far, but Linette winning the whole thing is a scenario the WTA needs like a hole in the head. Hoping for a Rybakina-Sabalenka final and for Aryna to get the win.

After Novak wiped the floor with De Minaur and Rublev, I'm pretty resigned to the inevitable on the men's side.

Elena winning the two slams Iga hasn't would be a real throwing down of the gauntlet, so although I'm cheering for Aryna on Saturday either outcome is good for the WTA.
