Petra's natural talent is so pure; I really wish she had developed into a consistent rival for Serena in the 2010's, it would have been incredible. But also, there's no point to the would've, could've, should've with Petra, because she just is who she is. Being able to beat anyone on any day? Not everybody has that! Not Iga!

I don't want to look too far ahead, but she does have a good track record in Stuttgart and Madrid, so this may not be the last we hear from her this season. Another major seems unlikely, but maybe this will be a jolt of motivation to keep going for even bigger things.

Yes, it’s baffling that Petra has only played 3 major finals. She’s had a Hall of Fame worthy career but still feels like an underachiever in a weird way?

Svitolina is back this week in Charleston. Interesting for two reasons - firstly to see where her level will be after an entire year out and just under six months after the birth of her daughter; and secondly because she could face a second round meeting with Alexandrova, having previously said she would refuse to play Russian or Belarussian opponents.

The best and most picturesque ATP tournament of the year, Monte Carlo, is going on right now. One of the few tournaments I think tv captures well, and the Getty pictures that come out of it are always beautiful. You also have a good mix of classic and underdog winners in its history.

I don’t know why that read likes an ad, but there we are. Will be interesting to see if Tsitsipas can rediscover some form and go for the three-peat, if Novak will again take some time to get going on clay, or if someone like Fritz or Khachanov can carry their form all the way to a win.

Iga really dragged my girl Qinwen today, curious to see if she works through this clay season with as much dominance as she had last year.
She has a decent draw. Rybakina should be a challenge for her in the semis though. I don’t think beating her is impossible but I think that matchup is a tricky one for her unless she approaches their matches with a different tactical perspective going forward.
