“You only have to open your eyes...”

Score: 6.1
Highest Score; 10 (x1)
Lowest Score; 1 (x3)

‘Shine’ was the second single from Take That’s come back album Beautiful World and second number 1 in a row. It’s the 18th best selling song of 2007 and spent 2 weeks at number 1. It also won the British Single award at the 2008 Brits. The song has been used for advertising campaigns and in several T.V shows. Bonkylicious said ”Fucking annoying now but once fun”.

My Verdict:
Score; 7
It’s a lovely song that can lift my mood anytime. It seems the song has aged very well and will continue to do so over the years.

“If you see us in the club we’ll be acting real nice...”

Score: 6.36
Highest Score; 10 (x2)
Lowest Score; 2 (x2)

In 8th place is the first of 2 Timbaland songs to leave the rate. ‘Give It To Me’ features Justin Timberlake (Sex God) and Nelly Furtado. The first single of ‘Shockwave’ it debuted at 8 on the charts and rose to the top spot a week later. There is controversy surrounding ‘Give It To Me’ and the intention of the lyrics. It was confirmed by Timbaland that the track is a ‘dis’ to producer Scott Scorch. Furtado’s verse is also thought to be a ‘dis’ to singer Fergie after she apparently ‘dissed’ furtado on her song Fergalicious. Bonkylicious said”Obnoxious lyrics, nice production”.

My Verdict:
Score; 6
It’s quite a good song, but definitely not his best in the rate. His production seemed to be fresh at the time but this song particularly hasn’t aged well at all. Shouldn’t have come this high at all.

The only line that I could see being anyway related to Nelly is "But I ain't promiscuous". I doubt she took it that personally!

Oh that wasn't aimed at you. If Nelly took offence to that, then that's just stupid!

I didn't like "Give It To Me" very much at first, but it grew on me. The production is the best thing about it, obviously. I think the best Timbaland-produced tracks from that time were Justin Timberlake's "My Love" and Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right," both classics in my book.

“You could be my black Kate Moss tonight...”

Score: 6.42
Highest Score; 10 (x3)

Kanye West is the next to leave the rate with ‘Stronger’. The song samples Daft Punk’s ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ (which I feel will be more highly viewed on Popjustice). It spent 2 weeks at number 1 and was the 19th best selling single of 2007. It won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance and deserves it’s place in the top 10 (in my humble opinion). Bonkylicious said ”Why sample the worst song of that Daft Punk song anyway”.

My Verdict:
Score; 9
This song is fantastic and dare I say it’s better than the original. Should have been higher! But I think 7th is a fitting place considering what songs are left.

It's an entirely superfluous sample, but it's still an amazing song. It did a wee bit better than I thought it would on here actually.

Kanye is awful.

Also Blob are you doing the pop justice 20 prize one?

Oh dear, I've been concentrating on getting this one over with I completely forgot that one was still unfinished. That will resume tomorrow!
