Und ich düse, düse, düse im Sauseschritt und bring die Liebe mit ...
(And I dash, dash, dash in high speed and bring love along ...)
Seit 2000 Jahren lebt die Erde ohne Liebe. Es regiert der Herr des Hasses!
(For 2000 years the earth has been living without love. It's reigned by the lord of hate!)
We do not need any love on this planet. Tötet Codo, vernichtet die Liebe.
(We do not need any love on this planet. Kill Codo, destroy love)
Denn die Liebe, Liebe, Liebe, die macht viel Spaß, viel mehr Spaß als irgendwas.
(Because love, love, love is much more fun than anything else)

Some say that the lyricist Joesi Prokopetz (one quarter of DÖF) invented Austropop, because he wrote the lyrics of one of the most important songs of this genre at the age of 19. Very thoughtful and interesting lyrics about rumours and prejudices ..
But this song was a slip, it was silly and senseless, he said in an interview. They (Prokopetz and Tauchen, the two Austrian guys of DÖF) were young and not very serious when a guy from a record company urged them to do something. When they presented this and the guy was not very convinced, they got help: the congenial German female members – sisters Annette and Inga Humpe - were brought in. Annette flew to Vienna, found the story (earth has been reigned by the lord of hate for 2000 years, Codo, an alien, flies in and saves the earth by bringing love along and back) of the song incredibly funny and wrote this song together with our two Austrian no-goods. Inga sang the catchy ABBA-like chorus with those amazing harmonies (not sure if Annette is part of or if it's Inga all alone). If you ask me it's mostly this chorus that was the key to the success, but the funny story and that they didn't take themselves very seriously didn't hurt either ...
DÖF – Deutsch-Österreichisches Feingefühl (German-Austrian Sensitivity) - was a shortly lived project because the success of this song wasn’t reproducible and to be fair no-one aimed at that.
Prokopetz is apart from being a gifted lyricist not of any interest, Tauchen sank into oblivion after that project, but the two Humpe sisters are worth more than one further look. Both had an interesting music career. Inga as singer and Annette as singer, writer and producer. I’ll add some of their work
What did PopJustice think?
@jtm (6.9) Hahaha the fuuck (.gif)
@DominoDancing (7) Humpe in action! Great chorus, but the rest is just a bit too silly. I can deal with camp, but this is going slightly too far.
@TéléDex (6.5) I don’t know where I endured this last. Not that memorable, I’m afraid.
@Eric (5) I just don't know what to make of this
@Phonetics Girl (5) Has a lot of potential but ultimately misses the mark, sorry!
@WowWowWowWow (8)
But um... weirdly it kept my interest?
@Filippa (9) This song is fun! And I love the chorus. Love conquers everything, didn’t you know that?
@Epic Chocolat (8,3) I really appreciate how intelligible the lyrics are
@daninternational (4) This was a hit somewhere? At least the chorus is nice
@pop3blow2 (6) What is going on, here?! The video looks like a set for Mystery Science Theater 3000, which I appreciate.
@MilesAngel (8) 1980's futuristic Europop at its best. So kitsch. I love the female singer's part and the funky guitar.
@berserkboi (4.8) Robot realness is fine, but I’d need more of those beautiful female vocals to really buy into it!

Ideal (Annette Humpe with band) - Blaue Augen (1980)

Annette doesn’t want to enter the stage anymore as she feels too old.
