The 80s-90s Lost Classics Rate - Goodbye Wes! :'-(

What a fun rate! I am so glad I took part. It was one of those rates where I really only knew a smattering of the artists or songs, so I was really doing it for the experience of learning a bit more about some artists or music I didn't know well. @Filippa & @berserkboi (and really many who chimed in with their knowledge, opinions, & experiences the thread!) most certainly achieved that. Thanks so much much to both of you for your work & passion.

When looking at the spreadsheet I did think you and @Sprockrooster were going to be most hard done by the eventual results, but at least the winner didn't get a negative score from anyone - so let's celebrate that!
The only thing I am celebrating are finding back lost classics - a rate with well written pieces and I thank both @Filippa and @berserkboi - but NOT the actual outcome.

I feel betrayed.

Despite not getting a Foreign Language Winner, I must say Frida was one of my favourite discoveries of the Rate, and reading @Filippa ‘s wonderful write-up and knowing the context of the song - I am so glad I gave the song a full 10!

My personal favourite rediscovery brought on by this Rate was revisiting the discography of Michel Sardou - still winning on that front too.

Thank you guys the pleasure was really ours. And thank you @berserkboi it was lovely doing this rate with you.

I honestly didn't believe in Frida, I'd never thought she would come this far. I'm a flop fan. But you can't imagine how happy I was when I realised she won.

I was convinced Sandra had this in her bag.
Maria Magdalena is really her best song and an 11 contender for me, too. If Michael Cretu hadn't something like a burn-out at the end of the 80s for working too hard for others who knows what they could have achieved together?
