  2. I never really understood these couples in the artcovers of such collections. As a kid I always wondered: "who the hell was taking this picture"?

  3. They do look particularly awkward. She looks like she's wondering where she left her Clubcard.

I kind of want to listen to the MC Skat Kat album. I always liked his voice. Well, in this one song.

  5. Has anyone yet mentioned that Paula 'returned the favour':

  6. Not even in airplay? Shame. I would have elevened 'you oughta know' if I had the chance.

  7. "You Learn" was a #1 hit on the Airplay charts and will be featured in the second half.

  8. Surprised that the other 4-5 singles weren't airplay No. 1s though - she was everywhere in 1996.

From the least essential album of the '90s.
The voices behind MC Skat Kat did also give us this (which @Jeffo entered into PJOPS):

  10. Excellent. My score average for the second half may have just dramatically increased.

  11. Thank God that's out. Also, Black Velvet should be in the Top 20 at least.

I still really like this. Not 'Opposites Attract' like, but aye... I do.

Edit: thanks for making me happy with that link @londonrain!

    However:

IS AMAZING AND ESSENTIAL AND NEVER WILL NOT BE. Maybe it's on the list ironically. It's gorgeous and I still play it 24 years later. (Ouch.)

    And also:

Peter Daou was her fucking husband. Coincidence? (And Erica Jong is his aunt.) Interestingly Daou moved on to become Al Gore's advisor, and is now a political commentator. Zipless is 100% essential, although I can see how it might not appeal to straight guys, unless they don't speak enough English to understand the lyrics/poems. Dear John Coltrane, the title of which DOES end with a comma, is gorgeous and lush – sonic equivalent of a hot day in July – if not as amazing as Zipless.

The article does redeem itself at the end with:

  16. Airplays are not being considered... or are they?

  17. They are. Especially considering that songs like "Don't Speak" and "Iris" spent over fifteen weeks at the top spot and were robbed of a Hot 100 placing due to rules at the time.

  18. In this rate I mean!

  19. In part 1 of the rate they were!

  20. Oh great then.
