Why can't you just let me do
the things I wanna do?
I just wanna be me
I don't understand why
Would you wanna bring me down?
I'm only having fun
I'm gonna live my life

This is just such a stone cold classic. Yes, it's very
of its time, but the production honestly still SLAPS. It's actually more Britney than a lot of Britney classics. Iconic lyrics, iconic chorus, iconic video. When this first came out on MTV's Making the Video and immediately started getting heavy TRL rotation, I remember thinking she was poised to become the next global music superstar -- in the big leagues with Britney and Xtina. How wrong I may have been, but this song still harkens me back to her era of limitless potential for domination.

A true anthem for the zeroes. I wish this birthed her status as a big pop girl, but the response wasn't as big as it should have been. Absolutely everything is on point here. A great hint at the extreme media attention, amazing beat and a fucking dance-intro in the middle-8 that leaves me bruised. Yes I am going all out.

TENS ACROSS THE BOARD. This stands the test of time and remains fantastic up until this day. This saved gay rights.
Runaway - 10
This was such a STATEMENT from her, especially as a debut single. BOP.
Music is Life - 10
This song is so great. I love the production, the mix of a dance sound with the electric guitar means I get my life every time. I love the lyrics too.
Untouchable Ace - 9.2
She actually did seem like she was trying to fill the space that Ashlee left. But then this was a bonus track so you all knew her team had no clue.

I love this song. I mean it’s a wannabe Britney song, but it’s a really good, wannabe Britney song. This song SOUNDS NOTHING like anything else on the record, though. It’s so out of place. Oh Lindsay, get it together.
unnameable - 9
Lindsay playing the fame game and addressing her fans long before some other people started discussing their reputation.
spillett - 8.5
Sticks out like a sore thumb in comparison to the rest of the album but no denying it's a great track. I actually would have preferred a whole album of pop/RnB from Lindsay than the Hilary Duff-style record we actually got.

Low key not a big fan of this song. If this was the Full Phatt mix I would be giving this a 10 because that is Janet Jackson levels of 2004 pop.

This song makes me cringe a bit at how cheesy the lyrics are now. Like okay, oooh you’re a celebrity and you’re tired of people talking about you, we get it. But it still bops, all the same.

This song is iconic in its video and its moment in time, it hasn’t held up for me, personally. I hate discrediting a song for a lack of relatability but maybe that’s a part of it. I kind of bet that she wouldn’t be tired of rumors starting now, though.

When this first came out I was like, oh, come on, nobody is talking about you. And then they were.

A bigger example of a single that made me apprehensive about taking the dive into her discography. This has always done very little for me. When you aren't excited about the singles on a album, it usually makes people hesitant about hearing the rest because they are usually a strong indicator of what you'll get on the album. I'm happy to discover this has a wonderful set of amazing album tracks. This just sounds monotonous to me. Sorry.
