My first 10 to leave. I must admit this score was part of my speed rate round and also a tiny bit nostalgia-driven; I recall this being one of the tracks I enjoyed listening to the most from my Headstrong CD. The chorus and the "ooh yeah"s are my favorite parts of the song, which is definitely one of her best, most endearing ballads to date. It probably should've been a 9 but I digress! This was one of the songs she performed in the High School Musical: Live in Concert tour, for which release it served as a promotional single.
Let's all blow a raspberry at GhettoPrincess, who says she's "not here for the cheese". "Literally forgot I was listening to this halfway through, that’s how much it fades into the background", suffers WhenTheSunGoesDown, before characterising the song as "shockingly unremarkable." Commentary queen DJHazey doesn't seem to love it either: "This is kind of cute, despite the fact that it sounds like a cheesy Disney-ballad and poor Ashley is trying, I mean she is really trying...bless her heart." Queen of polarizing vocal performances. "The airy vocals that are literally airy gasps at times, make the failure more evident. There's enough charm and sweet sentiment here, so that I can't completely trash this."
sexercise doesn't seem to either hate it or love it: "It’s nice for what it is." Despite being weary of Ashley's balladry, constantino says something we can all agree on: "thankfully this is far better than Unlove You. In fact, this is kinda nice and is a lot more tolerable than most American Idol winner’s singles…so that’s something." "I'm a sucker for girly MOR", admits Shockbox. "Scalp me queen." All this and still just a 6? Plethorya shows some positivity: "Give me that sunny summer love bop!"
Secondary commentary queen Sally_Harper assesses We'll Be Together as "the best of the slower songs. It’s still a bit of a wet lettuce, especially lyrically, but in a prettier way than the others. It’s sort of twinkly and sweet." Queen of lettuces. Meanwhile, mat.overboard goes on a minor nostalgia trip and recalls seeing Ashley live. "YES, ASHLEY! When I saw her 'live' and she 'sang' this 'song' I got really emotional. Not tears and stuff, but because she finally got a song with satisfactory lyrics and catchy melody. I love this one to bits. Hence the 10!" I'm getting mixed feelings here. A 10 and still song has quotes on it? Hmm. Another high score is now provided by iheartpoptarts: "Adorable. I'm not one for ballads, but I surprisingly love this."
