    This week's charts are in!

    Points of interest

For the first time in over 3 years 2NE1 hold onto the Gaon chart crown for longer than a week. "Come Back Home" remains put at #1, becoming only the second ever 2NE1 single to spend two weeks at #1 since "Go Away" topped the chart twice back in September 2010. 2NE1 just barely edge out Soyu & JunggiGo's "Some" for the weekly crown; the more than month-old song stays put at #2.

Also stagnant this week are Girls' Generation's "Mr.Mr." (#4) and CNBLUE's "Can't Stop" (#5). The only new entry in this week's top 5 is LYn, who climbs 7-3 with her latest hit "Miss you... Crying". She is tops in this week's downloads with 129k sold.

In a rare show of chart synchronism Orange Caramel debut in the exact same spot they landed at on our K-Chart; "Catallena" opens at #6. It is the group's 5th top 10 single.

Also new in the top 10 is Toheart's "Delicious", which opens at #9 (they also have the top album this week), and Shin Yong Jae's OST ballad "Love You, Erase You, Cry Again", which rounds things out at #10.

It was a close one, but 4minute squeak it. "Whatcha Doin' Today?" opens at #1 by an aggregate margin of less than 100k. The song finishes second behind Lim Chang Jung's "Ordinary Song" on the download count, but the inverse is true on the overall chart, where "Whatcha Doin' Today?" opens on top. It is 4minute's second #1 single following last year's "What's Your Name?" and their 12th top 10 single overall.

Last week's #1 "Come Back Home" by 2NE1 slips 1-3 this week while Soyu & JunggiGo's "Some" and Girls' Generation's "Mr.Mr." both record 3-point drops. Also new in the top 5 this week is AOMG artist LOCO, whose major debut single "Hold Me Tight" with Crush opens at #4. Meanwhile Busker Busker's eternal hit "Cherry Blossom Ending" re-enters the top 10 for a third year in a row, up 18-8.

Outside the top 10 Ga-in's "A Tempo" debuts at #22, MBLAQ's "Our Relationship" is new at #39 and Lee Michelle's anthem "Without You" is way down at #142. Also in some very good news TROY's debut single "GREEN LIGHT" rockets up the chart to a new peak, up 75 spots to #32.

Over on the albums chart with no major competition this week CNBLUE's Can't Stop finally hits the top spot after a month on the charts. It is the group's 6th chart-topper.

  5. Oh, yessssss, 4minute! Their success is so satisfying to me.

  6. I'm soo happy for them, congrats on the success so far. Let's hope they have some longevity like last year!

  7. Just a question, since I can't really be bothered to look for this anywhere else (and I get the distinct feeling I've asked before): what exactly is the Gaon Social Chart? As in, what does it measure? Something having to do with Fan cafes?

Because Wassup is #7 this week and that is just shocking.

I'm happy that 4Minute is #1 in Korea now, but let's face it - this is their worst lead single ever!

It's been stuck at #11 on Instiz for most of the week so it definitely doesn't seem to be pulling a WYN trajectory, that's for sure.

A fresh face tops this week's Gaon as Bro's "That Kind of Guy" shoots 37 spots up the chart to the #1 position. The rookie singer's controversial (though otherwise utterly beige) debut single finishes second in downloads behind Park Hyo Shin's "Wild Flower" (the highest debut of the week at #2).

Also new in this week's top 10 is Lee Sun Hee's "Meet Among Them" at #4 and Baechigi's "DDURAEYO" at #5. Last week's #1 "Whatcha Doin' Today?" by 4minute takes a big dip 1-10 while Orange Caramel's "Catallena" remains remarkably consistent at the #6 spot for a 3rd week running.

Outside the top 10 MBLAQ's "Be A Man" starts at #19, their 8th top 20 entry. Also notably on the rise is Lee Michelle's "Without You", which jets 57 spots to #85.

MBLAQ have the #1 album in the country this week. Their mini album BROKEN opens on top to become their 4th #1

    This week's charts are in!

    Points of interest

Veteran singer Park Hyo Shin tops this week's singles ranking with his digital hit "Wild Flower". The song climbs to #1 on sales of 252k, doing just well enough in streaming to stop this week's runner-up A Pink from advancing any further. The group's latest single "Mr. Chu" is their highest placing yet, opening at #2 on sales of 276k; it is #1 in downloads for the week. "Mr. Chu" is A Pink's 3rd consecutive top 10 hit since last year's breakthrough "NoNoNo" made it to #3.

But A Pink are not the only young acts back in the top 10 this week, several up-and-coming artists make return visits to the upper echelons of the chart. Just two weeks after scoring a #4 as a feature on LOCO's "Hold Me Tight", R&B singer Crush makes his mark as a lead artist with "Sometimes", which opens at #8.

Also back in the top 10 is Mad Clown, who after dominating the top spot for two weeks last year with Soyu on the massive hit "Stupid In Love", is back to try and repeat the formula with another member of SISTAR. The Hyorin-assisted "Without You" starts at #4, but with the intense showdown for next week's #1 it looks unlikely to climb much higher.

Last but certainly not least we could not mention rising acts without talking about Crayon Pop, who this week return to the top 10 for a second time with their latest hit "Uh-ee". The song enters at #10, their best-ever first week showing and their second top 10 following last year's breakout "Bar Bar Bar", which made it to #3.

Outside the top 10 NS Yoon-G lands her second top 20 single as "Yasisi" opens at #17, while Super Junior-M's "Swing" is new at #28. Predictably they make up for this lackluster single performance over on the albums chart, where their latest mini is this week's #1.

Not happening. AKMU or IU will be #1 next week. Really a shame because Mr. Chu is SO close to the #1, but they have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Their popularity is only increasing with each release and physically they're becoming real beasts. I think they'll be outselling f(x) and 2NE1 before long.

Yeah unless Cube screws it up A Pink can follow their formula and safely chart for years.

One thing is staying on top but staying at an arbitrary position for three weeks in a row is a solid gold trivia question in a couple of years.

Next week Akdong #1 IU #2 guaranteed.
