The Boys (Amazon Prime’s Superhero Show)

Amazon’s new superhero show staring Karl Urban and Chace Crawford, and produced by Seth Rogan.
The Boys takes place in "a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame" and "revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty."

I’ll maybe watch it for Karl Urban. I think he’s very underrated and should be a bigger star than he is.

The comic series this is based on is absolute (homophobic, transphobic and sexist) trash.

However Preacher and especially Futureman have convinced me that Seth Rogen is a good tv producer and I can imagine he could turn out something interesting form the material. The trailer is promising.

I haven’t read the comics but how much of part do the superhero’s play in the story?
I’m suppressed that Chace looks like he has such a small part, considering he’s one of the only people with a profile and he’s not even on the poster.

This got released on Friday. The 2nd scene is very WTF!
I'm enjoying it so far. I kinda feel like it's beating the Watchmen series to the punch though.

So I’ve watched about 20 minutes of the first episode.

Lots of WTF moments so far. It’s dark, it’s twisted. It’s very much what real life would be like if super heroes actually existed. I don’t like what happened with A-Train. I feel silly for thinking it’s unrealistic that that’s how someone would react if they had done something like that, but I do. But I guess it’s the dawn of the super villain so it was necessary that something that awful happens.

Chance Crawford’s bum was nice.

I love Elisabeth Shue.

Surprised about this has come and gone with not much fanfare. I thought it would be more talked out on here and bigger in general.

Watched the pilot and didn't like as much as I thought I would. I'll try the next few episodes. Erin Moriarty could pass as a Kate Mara's sister if she dyed her hair brown.

It's not something that I would watch as focus but it's good to dip in and out of.

This was great, really enjoyed it.

Karl Urbans accent though is fucking horrible, his voice is Neil Tennent level annoying.

So good to see Elisabeth Shue again.

Great show but Frenchie needs to work on his French accent...

A shame they cut that scene of Homelander masturbating on the top of the Chrysler building and ejaculating all over NYC.

I've seen the first 3 episodes and think it's great. Lots of people seem to be talking about it so I'm surprised there's not much talk on here.

Up to episode 5 and it is brilliant. It’s twisted and funny but well plotted. I like the angle of superheroes as a business and little else.

But Karl Urban’s accent is awful, it’s like someone doing an impression of Danny Dyer when they’re coming round from dental surgery.

I really loved the first episode though I didn’t feel the second added much to the story until the very end. I mean if I’m going to sit through a 60 minute show they need to make sure that I’m engaged and they’re not just padding the running time out. Still looking forward to the rest of it though.

I am on the penultimate episode and really enjoying this. You're right in saying it's what we might expect the superheroes to be like if real, I think this has got a lot of potential. I would have liked to have seen more powers from the Deep though, although the scene with his gills makes me feel sick.
