The Bells of Notre Dame is lit as fuck though. C'mon narrative exposition, let's get dramatically operatic! *death drops*
I've given my initial ratings, but I need to compare them against each other. I've given songs the same rating that are clearly not on the same level, this is where half points will come in handy!
I've felt nothing but deep, dark contempt for Mary Poppins since being sold into slave labour in the choir for a primary school performance. We had to wear raggedy old clothes, cover our faces with soot, dance with brooms and ugh bye.
By the time this rate concludes, I may have eaten you. "Feed the Birds" is a truly beautiful modern-day hymn if ever there was one. And the entire film is sheer glowing genius, the one thing I ever watch that can always cheer me up. (Even Dick Van Dyke's accent doesn't annoy me. Yeah, for real.)
Will most likely do this. There's a lot of things here that I haven't heard. Kind of wish Lion King 2 was included. It's not as good as the first one, but I think the music is. Pretty sure I know what my 11 is, but there's enough songs I don't know that that could change.
I am sooooo excited! Goes and plays fantasmic music while vocalizing the opening notes to I Wonder The real struggle is going to be picking which movie gets that fifth spot. Thanks for including Best of Friends @Animalia!
Wait, YouTube suggested a Hillary Duff cover of The Siamese Cat Song that I never knew existed. Problematic bop!
Even Queen Hilz can't save it for me, but hopefully that means you're either a fan of hers or are about to become one.
Yeah. That song... is an eyebrow-raiser to say the least (though Lady and the Tramp is stuffed to bursting with ethnic stereotypes, for what it's worth), but the animated sequence that it accompanies plays incredibly well with it. It's a lot of fun, in spite of itself. Also, I have some affection for it, as my aunt has two Siameses. And they really do love mayhem just as much... "What Makes the Red Man Red", on the other hand... some rather good loosey-goosey animation by Ward Kimball there, but it doesn't remotely manage to overcome the ruthless stereotyping. At least I know where my racism line is, I suppose. (I probably won't be using the playlist, I'll be sticking with YouTube. The songs and the scenes they accompany are inseparable, in my mind, in judging the score.)
My favorites are Bare Necessities, Part of Your World, Reflection, Colours of the Wind and A Whole New World. So those five for the win!
I once drunk-tweeted Khia requesting a cover of 'Hellfire', to which she said she'd get on it. Three years later and I'm still waiting.
I'm here to represent for the mermaids. So excited and scared for my faves! I've just done my Top 5 films which was difficult enough.
Okay this wasn't exactly what I meant when I said I was looking forward to unusual opinions. Also, me taking names of everyone who registers even the vaguest of interest while also updating my CV
Better get working on some scores to freshen things up then, eh? I'll be rolling out the obligatory tagging spree of everyone who liked the #promo posts in a wee while, so make yourselves known soon if ya don't want named & shamed!
