The Great British Bake Off

Josh should’ve won for consistency over the series, but none of them knocked it out of the park in the finale. Even Matty’s showstopper was wonky and the decoration was poor. Josh’s was a lot better to look at despite what the judges said; it seemed they were being picky for the sake of it as they didn’t want him to win. Oh well, I do like Matty and I hope he goes on to have something resembling a decent career after the show.

I guess they want 'the arc'.

Josh was pretty good from the get go (even though I didn't even notice him for about 5 weeks), so for the person who's already good to win is a snore.

Matty was sweet and pulled some great faces, so glad he won. But it should've been Tasha.

Yeah 100% - although a few times they have conveniently ignored it, Bake Off has always been a weekly judging and not a cumulative effort. Obviously Josh was the clear best baker here, but if you make a bad final bake versus somebody who made perfection (to eat) other than that it was a slight lean…

it felt like the right result and besides that Matty seemed like a dream and I’m super happy for him.

Matty is also the most interesting of the final 3. Like, at least he has a bit of a personality so has the potential to pop up on other shows somewhere, or flog a few books. I know it's a baking show, but I just couldn't really get that excited or passionate about Josh, as he never seemed that excited or passionate.

Matty was a ridiculous winner to me, he should have gone home long ago if it wasn't for the fact they knew he would be popular. He literally presented raw food during the final week, the only thing he had going for him was the other two being weak and not super likable.

I do agree this show continues to be such a cozy watch and has had questionable judging for a long time, but they really pushed it this season.

This series of Bakeoff, I just wasn't won over by these bakers. They just don't seem to be unique or as strong as previous bakers in past series.

I am still behind by a few weeks, so goes to show how much this series has retained my interest. Alison Hammond was the highlight for me.

I think two things can be true
- he was never ever the best baker in the tent (but on no single week was the worst, either)
- he won the final

Thats just how it works, baby!

(I don’t remember two thirds of those Christmas / NY bakers, eeek)

Maxy looked so different with the new hairstyle. Took me a minute to place her! Jurgen’s eyebrows still need some serious trimming.

Jurgen was my pick to win based on previous performance, but he flopped aside from the showstopper. What a shame.

Maxy got a well deserved win. Very consistent across the three challenges.
