it got such a bittersweet context when i realized Flora was saying it out of remembrance for her friend Rebecca who she admired and tragically lost. It almost made up for all the annoyance that came from it before.

Yeah, I'm actually not completely clear when Flora was possessed (vs. the more apparent Miles possessions) but I know there were points she would say it without being tucked away, for example when they're in the attic at the end of episode 7 and Rebecca hasn't possessed her yet. I don't think she was possessed in the very beginning while giving Dani the tour?

I thought this was incredible. My only gripe is that the ending should've been 90 minutes and shouldn't have made me so damn emotional! I'm already a mess because of the Roswell connection to 'I Shall Believe', now I've got this too? Arrrrrrrrgh

It was very heart-wrenching to me in a way that I did not expect. The whole idea of the good things in life, and in particular love, being temporary was a gut punch. True, but you wouldn't believe the times I saw people on Facebook asking, "was that their older selves at the end of the wedding?" Like seriously...

This was interesting to watch once you’ve finished... quite a few things I didn’t notice or digest in that way!



like, how did I not realise the dolls represented where the ghosts are and the doll under the bed was the lady in the lake and they locked her in the cupboard because that doll was in the middle of the room

I actually think they did a pretty good job avoiding the Bury Your Gays trope? Dani never felt expendable in any way and they avoided the overdone "now they're together and happy someone has to die thing" by spending a decent amount of time fleshing out a happy future for them. Or maybe I'm just giving them too much credit!

I've just finished Bly. It was really strong at the start, dipped in the middle but picked up for the finale.

The children seemingly knowing where the ghosts were via the dollhouse being some sort of mirrored image of the manor brought the creep factor, but apart from that there were zero scares and it was definitely more character based drama than horror.

I worked out Hannah was dead pretty early on with her zoning out looking at the imaginary cracks and not eating. But her episode when she came to terms with it still broke my heart. The final episode hit me straight in the feels aswell.
I'm looking forward to never hearing the narrator's attempt at an English accent ever again though.

Does he not have another thriller type series starting next year on Netflix with some of the cast of the Haunting anthology? I suppose that would explain why it sounds like they are taking a break from it just now.

He definitely has some upcoming projects with Netflix.

Gerald’s Game, Hush, The Haunting of Hill House/Bly Manor, Doctor Sleep etc are all amazing in their own right, so I am so excited for this. Mike Flanagan is great, I feel like he always seems to strike the perfect balance between his work being genuinely scary but also really emotional. Feed it to me.
