No!!!!!! “Just Go” is amazing even if it is repetitive and simple. I absolutely love how Kumi gets so sarcastic towards the guy. Such classic Kumi. This deserves better! A total 10 from me.

I'd forgotten Just Go was still in the rate!

Let's Party is an enjoyable little song and I love a bit of Break It Down. So underrated - she really needs to perform it again someday!

I can't disagree. It's has a lot of charm in it's repeatition.

25 (2 track tie) Without your love
Average: 7,61

Highest score: 10x1 (@RUNAWAY)
Lowest score: 5,5x1 (@Remorque)
My score: 9

I'll be going crazy, crazy, without your love, my baby, baby. What a freaking catchy tune leaves us. Being released first as a b-side for Gentle Words and then appearing on feel my mind, Without your love was produced by Daisuke "D.I." Imai and written by both him and Kumi. A true urban bop with cars, helicopters, sirens and walkie-talkies. I remember someone on a different forum said that the police car sirens are a guarantee of a bop. Who knows how truthful these words are, but in this case they are spot on. The track is about Kumi's inability to live without her boy's love, as you can guess. I always found it to be a highlight in Kuu's discography, my favorite part is the bridge, way to break up the usual flow of the song a bitsy.

Let's give the floor to our top scorer first. @RUNAWAY ruminates, "I love how she sampled herself (or I guess the melody) from this song in Trust you. Also this song is a JAM. When I first got this album I thought this would be a ballad from the title but it is such a fuckin awesome song." Agreed, although I'm not sure about sampling the melody, but it is similar. The same score sis @Sprockrooster (9) is impressed, "What a danceable bop. YES." YES indeed. Oh and @send photo (8) gets it out of his system, "Without Your Amniotic Fluids".

Surprisingly this was never performed live.

25 (2 track tie) Promise
Average: 7,61

Highest score: 10x3 (@RUNAWAY, ouch, @Weslicious, @Remorque) SURPRISE! SURPRISE! Most 10s so far.
Lowest score: 4x2 (@GhettoPrincess, @Ceir)
My score: 9

And another single from Best ~first things~ goes. And what an amazing one! I almost can't believe that this was produced by Daisuke "D.I." Imai as well, as piano ballads aren't really his thing, but, oh god, how good for him. Written by Kumi, this is a gorgeous classic ballad about lost love. The way she sings here just sends chills down my spine. So freaking good. And those strings? Man, this is just a top notch pop ballad all around.

@send photo (8) asks us a favor, "Promise my amniotic fluids won't rot". Well that's up to you, hun. @Eskiath (9) is completely wrong, "I feel like this is one of her very few perfect ballads." It's quite perfect, but not really, no. Most of them are great. Sadly @RUNAWAY loses a second 10 in a row, "another beautiful emotional ballad~YAS. the lyrics are actually really painful and sad, but that's why it's so good." Speaking of lyrics:

Even if I wait for a call, there's no ring

Truly, I understand it's the same, and yet
I loved you with all my heart in the end
These feelings won't ever reach you
You don't say, say goodbye

My overflowing tears fill up my heart
I can't stop them any more
This unending reality
Becomes a transient dream
Cause I make a promise

Yes, you swore you'd be by my side, laughing
Forever, and make me happy, yet...
My memories remain even now
I'll put them away in my heart forever
I'll never wanna be alone
(c) @otenkiame

Kumi performed this quite a few times actually and she did it justice every single time.

I would give both songs an 8. I used to be obsessed with "Without Your Love", but that obsession's really waned over time. It's still a great bop though. "Promise" definitely feels like it's underrated. I'm not super in love with it, but I enjoy it enough to give it an 8.

(How "Just Go" lost to these two is a travesty though.)

I'm giving your post a like, but it's certainly not for the last bracketed part.

Sorry! The last ballads I liked from her are stay with me and All for you. The rest of them after that kind of just blended into one for me and I struggle to remember how most of them go.

Ha! Funny you should mention these two, when they were not up to par actually, although Stay with me does have it's moments and All for you is cute. Since these two, what about Imagine? What about Koishikute? TURN AROUNDKimi Omoi? WALK OF MY LIFE? NO ONE ELSE BUT YOU? Not really a ballad, but stilL! The whole of W FACE ~inside~?

Out of those the only one I kinda like is Koishikute and only because it's grown on me over time. When it came out I thought it was another of her typical winter ballads (sounds just like Suki de, Anata Dake ga and Ai o Tomenaide). And don't get me started on Inside *shudders*, I barely got through two listens of that.

Oh my god, how can you pile them on? These three are totally different, the only similarity is that there are ballads.

Inside is actually really nice, it's a total homage to her older fans and there is just so much warmth in it's ballads. I adore Stand by you and Promise you especially.

I'm gonna be such a villain once we get farther along in her career. Over half of Inside is throw away rubbish for me.

Edit: I will give the songs another chance though. I'm not that hateful.

"Just Go" is just somehow the image I came to associate with Kuu for whatever reason. (Probably because it's one of the first songs I remember hearing from her after "SHAKE IT"). Nostalgia is wondrous is that regard.

Haha, oh my god I'm sorry! They just sound so similar to me and I never really gave them a chance, I'm sure they're lovely though as many fans love them and they're probably even better if you understand the lyrics (I don't and never bothered looking them up).

That's really nice to hear about Inside though, I'll give it another go.
