The Lady Gaga Rate (Haus Labs now available)

The silly, raunchy, giddy fun of Christmas Tree is more exciting than a fair portion of her discography and 90% better than most Christmas Music. Y'all need to lighten up.

Dddd me if people start to come for my scores.
Thanks for letting me know Retro, Dance Freak is old and help explain that @Maki!

Awww come on! The only reason I didn't give Christmas Tree a 10 is cause it was the last song I listened to before submitting and was the first time I heard it. Out way too soon!

Can we please get rid of Speechless and Brown Eyes?
You give out a million tens and THIS is what you come for?!

How y’all treat ballads...I can’t.

Nope don't even try. I love ballads. I gave a 10 to both Dope and A Million Reasons. I just don't think either song works the way Gaga wants them to.
I....Spechless is heartbreaking and beautiful and I think it absolutely does what it’s supposed to do.

It’s her best ballad for me, with honourable mentions to Always Remember Us This Way, Joanne and You and I (if we’re considering that also a ballad?).

Out of all the ballads she has, you all want to get rid of freaking Speechless?????
Out of all the ballads you could like, you pick Speechless?

Lyrically it's great. I just don't think the production works well enough.

We’ll start things right off with @Maki who provides us with some background on this bonus track AND a vague Beatles drag: “This is like a minuscule version of "Brown Eyes" (she even mentions the title of that song), very different from the rest and very old-school. It surely reminds me of the music by Stefani Germanotta band days (ed. note: clip of a Stef Germonatta performance linked below!) and it's a nice throwback to the vintage style. In fact, this is the oldest song we're rating here, with its creation dating back to late 2005/early 2006 and possibly an outtake from that band. The chorus is lovely and I love it, but the rest is slightly boring. Seeing her mention that this is a tribute song a song by The Beatles and it totally makes sense. Unfortunately, this is one of my least favorites from this album and it's completely reasonable why it was left off the standard edition.” And despite this being that old, I don't actually see it that far removed from Just Another Day or Look What I Found. And I can't tell whether @Untouchable Ace is stating facts or taking an educated guess when they say “Okay I guess, but it's so old.@R27 calls it “Rather inessential. There's a decent song in there but it still needs some work. The ending is also way too abrupt.” And @daninternational thinks “This has a lovely 90s feel to it” It’s also a bit familiar to “This is pleasant I guess, but I feel like I’ve heard it a millions times before.” - @Petit nain des Îles. Similarly @Stradiwhovius calls it “advert music”. And @Verandi has been haunted by this for presumably a decade “Teenage me was horrified by this. Adult me is not very different.@VitaminBee quips “I have no urgency to ever listen to this again, again” And @madgemad is just glad it’s over “It's alright. I always used to like the last few seconds especially because whichever version of The Fame I have, Boys Boys Boys is the next track!

Some of you were a bit kinder with your commentary. Like @Music Is LifeThis is better on the second listen than it is the first. I really like the production, especially the guitar. This is just a little too…something that I can’t put my finger on, but it’s making it hard to like the song too much.@Seventeen Days says “This is one of two tracks (along with ‘Brown Eyes’) that I always felt deserved more love from the fans. I love the intimate cabaret feel of this.@collxtion was feeling the love “This one has always been special to me. Brown Eyes might be the ~Official~ ballad of The Fame, but Again Again connects better (to me) to the ballads that followed, Yoü And I especially.” And @jtm must’ve not heard THAT Just Dance ad lib when they say “I like this as it was one of the first examples of her showing what she was capable of vocally."

@Laurence closes us out by taking us on a trip to the GAY thread:

I used to sing this and change it a bit to make it relevant for my crush at the time, boy was I a messy faggot. But that's why I like the song a lot cuz I connect it to him and after I got overunder my crush, the tension went away and we could all move on with our lives. The song is a bit simple yes, but that feeling again and again? I stan.
