I Want Your Love

Lowest: 3.25 x 1 (@CasuallyCrazed)

From I'll Never Love Again to I Want Your Love, kii.

Let's kick things off with @VitaminBee who bestowed it their 11 "I can see this getting eliminated early and I really love it so it’s getting my 11. Scheiße and Heavy Metal Lover have enough love to not need it from me. I really just enjoy the track so much. It’s a really solid cover that really uses everything but the kitchen sink and really goes off. It’s fun and deserves to outlast most, if not all, of the other extras. How could you not enjoy this? Especially when the middle 8/breakdown hits and she starts dropping Bad Romance ad-libs in. Me after every time I listen to the track:

It also has a great production too! I would pay so much to get the official instrumental of it."

It almost got @SyPOPhantic's 11 as well "This was my other “11” contender, this cover is an absolute smash! I feel a lot of people will bin it early but the middle 8 and onwards rivals Marry the Night." @GimmeWork says "Gags + Disco is just a winning combo for me." And @Seventeen Days pleads "We need an entire Gaga album produced by Nile Rodgers like immediately." @Laura Vanderbooben doesn't plead but demands "know what I want? Tom Ford for Christmas so y'all better open a GoFundMe". Maybe this year if you're nice. @daninternational thinks real hard "It's hard to judge this. It's great but somehow not Gaga enough." and @Stradiwhovius agrees "Gaga and her vocals is almo- oh fuck it lets be real. WAY BEYOND this" @RJF expands on that "I realise the gays clung to this rotted piece of flotsam after the SS Warm Disco sank in the hurricane that was "Perfect Illusion", but... it's just not that vital. I've already pointed out in the past that she sounds like The Count from Sesame Street. The "WHADDYA MEAN IT'S NOT IN THE COMPUTER??????!!!!!" moment at the end made the side of my mouth twitch I guess." @FresherThanYou however thinks it's "Gloriously camp and many of us would love to see her explore this style of Disco more!" @sfmartin says "I very much enjoy this cover. I loved it when it was just an advert, very glad we got the full version." This was a discovery for some of y'all, like @Petit nain des Îles "I want more of disco Gaga and I’m definitely going to check out the original afterwards.", @R27 "I'm not familiar with the original, but this version certainly knocks.", and @jtm "Pretty good. Never heard this before." But @Sprockrooster says "I did not know this existed before this rate. And let me try to forget it again." Finally @Laurence says "I simply love this track! It brings a different side and to my joy the demo also leaked so we have two versions! Both sound great and I love this track. It just hits you and what a rush? Well I cannot get enough of this. Glad this saw the light of day"

I can't. It's out way too early. Yes, it's a cover but it's a great cover. It goes off and is a total bop. I'm glad others seem to enjoy it at least, minus @CasuallyCrazed.

On a serious note. I love this song but I regretted giving it my 11. I'm sorry Scheiße and Heavy Metal Lover. You should have gotten it instead. Nah, I don't care. It's a bop.

This is why rate results are so messy and innacurate. Can't y'all just... rate the damn songs with some semblance of objectivity instead of overthinking it like this?

Yes I do realize it's not that serious but I'm very anal about this stuff and it's why I don't even bother participating, teebs.

I understand the frustration but I should clarify... I'm actually happy with what I gave my 11 to. While I do love Heavy Metal Lover and Scheiße (who both got 10's), I just added that bit because I felt like people would judge me for giving "a cover" my 11 and not one of her own. These rates can be cutthroat sometimes with people's personal opinions of songs...

Meh, whether it got an 11 or 10 doesn't really matter. Deleting someone's entire ballot barely changed results, with any songs affected moving just a placement or two at most. It's still a fairly accurate summation of the participant's opinion on Gaga.

Now, giving songs like Jewel's N Drugs a 10 alongside 10's for Bad Romance...well there's no accounting for taste. Then again I only gave out 15 10's and she's where I got my namesake so maybe I'm just stingy with my scores.

Angel Down

average: 7.19
Highest: 10 x 12 (@Aidan @Maki @Remorque @Robert @Petit nain des Îles @R92 @Slice of Life @Sprockrooster @DJHazey @elektroxx @Phonetics Boy @yeRleDanaL)
Lowest: 2 x 2 (@Hurricane Drunk @Andrew.L)

Speaking of songs that could've used a 10, I'm sad to see this bow out in the bottom half. I find it to be probably her best ballad? It's the most emotionally effective for me, with the plea for leadership only becoming more relevant since release. Her performance of this on the balcony of The Bitter End is one of my more favorite Gaga moments of late. The eerie music box ending is a haunting note to end the standard edition on, especially after the hopeful tones of Come to Mama and Hey Girl. The deluxe ending with the angrier work tape version always felt like Gaga insistence on keeping an edge despite Just Another Day's best efforts to soften things up. This is also Joanne's most overtly politically charged song, written after Trayvon Martin's murder, stating in a Zane Lowe interview before the album's release: "[There is an] epidemic of young African Americans being murdered in this country. I was overwhelmed by the fact that people just stood around and didn’t do anything about it, and that the justice system continues to, over and over again, not seek justice for these families...I absolutely cannot write anything that does not have a voice and a purpose in the universe. Why would I have this voice? Why would I have this platform?”"

@daninternational thinks "It's pretty, but (guess like most of this album) lacks oomph" Sis...@jtm calls it "One of her best ballads" and @Stradiwhovius says it's "hauntingly beautiful". @Laurence came around eventually "At first I did not like this a lot, but I guess it kinda improved after a while. No wonder where it ends up in the rate, bottom 10? Who knows. That outro could be a lot shorter I think." @R27 also came around eventually "I never gave this much time, but listening to it now I think that might have been a mistake on my part. The “age of the social” line is a little eye-roll inducing, but her anger is palpable while calling out ineffective politicians during the chorus." @Petit nain des Îles follows that up with "This works much better than the other Joanne ballads. The instrumentation is very Lana Del Rey which pleases me. And those lyrics… I wasn’t ready. The Work Tape version is incredible too" @Phonetics Boy agrees, saying their 10 is for the Work Tape. "I LOVE this one. It sounds post-apocalyptic." says @madgemad. And, as always, @RJF delivers a succinct, sharp, punch to the gut "Sounds like an SOS transmission from a dying planet... which it kind of is."

Angel Down can be largely criticized 'cause at the end of the day it's a white woman puting her not-so-important input into systematic racism, but it does make a bit of a poignant ballad I think. The lullaby-esque outro is my favorite part, I think, besides her palpable anger that is

Angel Down won't be missed here. I Want Your Love on the other hand? I expected it to be out soon, but okay.

You know when there's so many users, it's not about 1 ballot (except if they are clearly trolling or so), but about the averages anyways. Feel free to rate however you want...

Why complain about how people do their rating and then not participate yourself...
