The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

Grace Randolph spilled a little tea about the Agatha show in her livestream today.
Feel free to take it with a pinch of salt... a lot can change by 2025.

She mentions that it will be a slow burn, will be centred around Billy and will be a lead into something Wanda related... kinda like a very, very extended end credit scene.

If quantumania cut the freedom fighters and spent that time instead giving Hope something to do and fleshing out Cassie’s character a bit more then it could have been a different film.

It also lost a lot of the Antman charm, the first film had brilliant shots which gave perspective to the size when shrunk (ie, Scott in the bath & going down the drain). These were far and few between here & were lost to CGI when they were used.

Kang was brilliant & the backstory with Janet was really well executed though - would love to see more of them together.

It’s frustrating to see another wasted opportunity from Marvel. It wouldn’t have taken much just to ground the script a bit more.

Why don’t we deserve nice things?

How can it be filming now and released in 2025? Either they have postponed filming or it has a really long post-production process

I enjoyed these.

The way I’d be so content with them creating movies/shows with just these characters, moving forwards…

Thanos would actually be considered a “mutant” of the Eternal race. He is stronger than the Titans of his world because of his mutation. The mutation is part of the recessive Deviant gene he has and yes the X-Men (Earths mutants) are confirmed to be related to the Deviants.

So I decided to cancel my Disney+ subscription and about 2 weeks before it ended thought about watching some things I’d never got around to seeing and… basically i’d never seen a Marvel movie and ive ended up binge watching most of the first 3 “phases”, I wasn’t sure whether to watch in timeline order or order of release.

I thought binge watching in the right order might help me keep up with overarching storylines that connect the films but after Endgame I’m a bit confused and I feel like there were so many characters I couldn’t keep up with things.

There was a Spider-Man movie and phase 4 seems to be a load of TV series rather than movies, the first of which is Wandavision and I saw the first few minutes of an episode and I don’t know what it’s supposed to be?

Are the series worth watching and do they add to the plot?

Also are there some gaps in what is available on Disney+? I can see they only have one of the Spider-Man films for a start.

How on Earth does anyone enjoy these films if they watch them standalone? Don’t you need to have watched them all?

Obviously I’ve now extended my subscription…. Doh!

Disney doesn't own the rights to Spider-Man movies, which is why most of them aren't on Disney+.
The series are worth watching for the most part, especially WandaVision, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk.
Not everything is necessary viewing. It depends on the movie or show.

Just watch Wandavision for uhh Wanda and general awesomeness, Loki for the overall arc of this saga, Hawkeye for Kate Bishop and Yelena...

Why are Eternals so hated? I loved that movie it was one of my favorite post-Endgame.
For me personally it went nowhere?! The direction and cinematography where nice. The acting was passable. The story was meh. After the great ensemble of Endgame and the stakes that effected each and every character...it was so compelling! Granted by Endgame we had years of development for each of these characters so it was filled with gravitas. Now here comes the Eternals facing this new threat. Unfortunately with the huge cast, we didn’t get enough character development. Plus the Deviants were not compelling enough. For a movie that was advertised as a huge event for the MCU nothing came out of it. Literally no one has mentioned or referenced anything that happened in that movie.

After the box office and tepid reception (among other things) I mentioned how I’ll be surprised if there was a sequel. Now that Bob Iger is putting his foot down on quality control and curbing unnecessary tepid MCU content, yeah it’s not happening.

They must have been acutely aware of people talking about this, because there was a little nod to this in She Hulk. It was a headline on a website for an article asking why there's a giant man sticking out the ocean I think.

But also, from what I understand, we'll be visiting the celestial in future movies, as it serves as a location and story point.

Chloe was asked about whether or not she's returning for the sequel just in the last couple of days, and her answer was a very blunt "no comment". Feel like she could have just said she didn't know, or nothing has been confirmed yet, so that makes me think there have been conversations about it at least.

But that’s the thing, an easter egg?!?!

I wouldn’t mind Chloe back in the MCU but I think she l’s being wasted on Eternals as it is. Truthfully Eternals should have been a miniseries.

What I’m hoping is that they’ll scrap any talk of an Eternals sequel. If anyone in her camp is smart have them pitch a Mutant miniseries where they can plop in the Celestials, Eternals, Deviants as backstory. That gives them room to tell the grand story of the first Mutants.

If not that at least pitch an X-Men movie with a competent writer.

My issue with Eternals was the timing of the movie.

Even now in this new saga I don’t see where they fit in.

It would have made more sense to me for them to be some of the leads in a new saga. It just feels like a random storyline and set of characters that don’t go with the current storylines or landscape.
