The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

Ooh this is bad.

Perlmutter was the one responsible for Phase 1 being all white men, because "superhero girl toys don't sell." He blocked Maya from being the main villain in Iron Man 3 for similar reasons. And when Terrence Howard was replaced, Ike reportedly said, "nobody would notice because black people all 'look the same'" So, yeah, good riddance.

He hasn't had power over the movies since 2015 though. The Vanity Fair article from that time has some insane stories about him: https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/09/marvel-studios-ike-perlmutter-kevin-feige

So Victoria Alonso’s firing had nothing to do with VFX. It was for breach of contract.

It seems fair to note that her lawyer vehemently denies this, that Disney were fully aware of her involvement, gave her their blessing to produce it, and are now using it as cover because of her… hm, let’s say disruptive… tactics in speaking out about gay issues, specifically calling out Bob Chapek over the infamous Florida bill.

I think what’s most likely is Iger is cleaning house, and anyone who doesn’t fall in line or won’t go quietly is on the chopping block, and her disruptive nature made it easy for them in theory, although obviously not in practice.

He/Him

Ooh this is bad.

It's not necessarily. He was awful (and reasons for why they tried to make Inhumans as a film, not allow any female lead films - the reason why Rebecca Hall's character was changed from the villain in IM3 to just... what she ended up being, and said many other awful things - along with being a Tr*mp supporter.)

They could let some other outsourced company run the comics, which would be crappy or have someone who costs less (and probably knows more) to run it.

Maybe Jonathan Majors doesn’t have the Disney damage control department helping him because I can’t believe a Disney lawyer would think leaking those texts to TMZ would be a good idea.

‘My fault for trying to grab your phone’ is not an exonerating statement but it was good enough for Chris Brown defenders.

This is going to be such a dark cloud over the MCU going forward.

Assuming they have to recast him, do we think they'll go back and refilm some of his sequences - it would delay Loki quite a lot.

It's sad that this has happened after such a huge amount of goodwill.

Those texts really are terrifying, why his lawyers thought they would help him I have no idea

I totally agree with this as well. Disney has the risk of losing BILLIONS and cause havoc with their schedule with this. There's no way their lawyers would give (very bad) texts to TMZ.

I see them riding out Loki as contracts etc might cause heavy delays. I can imagine some small relief that it is at least a somewhat recast able character lore wise

I have no idea how much he's done already in terms of filming but Marvel need to ditch Jonathan ASAP and recast Kang. If my memory serves me right, Kang is actually a relative of Reed Richards, so some sort of variant that could also introduce the F4 could work out. Kang is such a great character and there are so many great stories with him, I don't want the live action version to be tainted by having him continued to be played by such a monstrous creature.

Like almost everyone else, I am gobsmacked that his team proudly put out those texts as some sort of proof of innocence, when all they do is strongly imply the exact opposite. Imagine being so detached from reality that you can read those messages and actually think they'll go over well with the public. I hope she's getting the support she needs right now.

This is a total nightmare for Disney but they need to cut ties with him immediately. Loki's ready to go and he supposedly features quite heavily in it, so that's possibly beyond saving now, but moving forward it is fairly easy for them to recast and explain it away as a variant. Majors just needs to go.

At first I thought people were joking when they said Jonathan Majors hired the same lawyer as Jen Shah, but the more they release, the more it makes sense. Everything they release seems to make him look more guilty. They keep putting these words in the alleged victims mouth, yet we don't have an official statement from her. It feels very much like a scared and abused woman who is saying what she needs to in order to protect her abuser.

I take back my earlier thought that Marvel would cover this up. As we saw with the Ezra Miller coverup, it would've been a lot more seamless than this has been.

I’m sure she definitely wrote those text messages all by herself and didn’t get any help from his legal team.

The way he doesn’t even reply…
