The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)

The animated stuff is in a weird area. I heard from coworkers that they were still doing storyboard work on season 1. I couldn’t get more information on whether it was for preproduction or post production in the form of retakes. It’s also traditionally animated and not 3D like What If? was (unless things changed…) which takes more time.

To be honest though, animation at Marvel is so poorly run because it’s not being produced by people who work in animation and so everything is just a bit… off. They hire actual comic artists to do design work but then they can’t understand how to make a character model sheet that actually works. It’s all very backwards.
In my basic head I always assumed animated stuff could be done much easier and quicker than live action, but I guess it takes a village of competent people.

Animation is just as easy to screw up. Everything needs to be drawn/designed in house and then sent to whatever animation studio they are using and animated on paper or on the computer (I heard maybe Studio Mir was doing X-Men 97 but I'm not 100% sure). As someone who has worked on many animated series... it takes a village and hearing how Marvel's productions were built, it made me want to scream because it added so many extra/unnecessary steps of chaos.

I think the only actor who ever had any influence on the storytelling was Downey, and Lizzy just doesn't have the same advantages.

I think it's a different time for Marvel, though. We'll see how The Marvels does, but the new kids just ain't hitting the same, and I think at the current moment (considering very public Marvel/superhero/Phase 4&5 fatigue), Lizzie/Wanda has a lot more leverage than one might think.

Ddd what’s the point of Echo.

On paper, it was smart. It provides a diverse hero with a disability the likes of which nobody else has shown yet, it's "street level" (ie cheaper to produce), and ties in with a wildly popular existing corner of their IP (Daredevil).

I'm not particularly interested in the show, given (a) I didn't find Ms. Cox's performance that enthralling, and (b) I admittedly have a bias against the character (because I do not believe she should have ever hosted the Phoenix, though I'd guess they aren't going down that route for many reasons).

I've also heard the show is a complete disaster, but...

Oh yeah, apologies if it came across as I don’t see value in the character and the representation. But she was not amazingly established.
Honestly I rather Echo get a shot than another wet cardboard Winter Soldier outing and the likes.

She Hulk should also be nurtured. I wish they invested in the shows that had interesting premises and weren’t padded films.

Echo could be interesting as I’d like to see more street level stuff like the Netflix shows. I just found the actress to have little charisma in Hawkeye.

Echo could be interesting, it just needs to have the right story. I think Alaqua didn't have much to show off in Hawkeye, and it seemed like her role was cut down a lot in the finale too. I also heard...
Jesse James Keitel is the villain/antagonist of the series.

I miss Agents of Shield, Agent Carter and some of the Netflix shows… There have been some fun moments along the way but overall expanding the MCU to Disney+ hasn’t turned out the way I hoped.

Yeah. I was hoping some of the Disney+ shows would end up like those. I still have hope for the DareDevil show because I love the PG-13 version that they debuted on She-Hulk.

What If?, WandaVision, Falcon and Winter and Loki are the best the‘ve offered. The rest have been uneven or down right marginal crap.

New confirmed name on the table for Reed Richards is
Jake Gyllenhaal. Matt Smith apparently turned down the deal, but is also likely to accept a better offer.

The F4 team are from the 60's and also another universe. Which would explain how they can reuse Jake after Far From Home.

Surely not? That would be such a weird choice and require too much explanation. Why does the hiring pool for MCU and DC movies seem so small?

I hope they don't go with him. I'm not really hugely jazzed about many of the Reed choices we've had so far, but Driver certainly seems like he'd be the best match for Kirby, in my opinion.
