If anything I’m grateful that it made it this far! I honestly thought both my 11s wouldn’t even scrape the Top 50 so the fact both of them made Top 25 is a win in my eyes.

P.S The name change had to happen - my original was awful and I can’t even remember why it was that ha!
Haha yeah, you kept waiting for them to be eliminated and it was tempting to tell you how long you'd be waiting but I knew it would be a nice surprise.

And, I have to agree. I like the new one! I was just confused for a hot second when I was trying to tag you.
You like Water Metaphors?? Have fun with one of my PJ Retro vetoes!! :D

This was beautiful! Thank you!

"When I Look At You" is lovely ballad and it deserved top 20 at least. I didn't give it a 10 mostly because there's just something missing, but it really is one of the best pre-10's Miley slower tunes.
Unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer it to "The Climb".

And, speaking of ballads, "One In a Million" should've left a long time ago. Hoping it's the next elimination.

I refuse to press the like button due to One in a Million slander.

in Berserky World it is canon that almost any ballad is better than The Climb dddd

I can't deal with you people. I don't condone the opinion of not liking The Climb.

But it's gonna be a while before we get to that song, so let's focus on our first elimination of the day.

Pleasantly surprised to see this one do so well...

But I think it is time for it to go. Also, sorry, this would've been up sooner but I had some issues with the internet.

I Got Nerve was written by Jeannie Lurie, Ken Hauptman and Aruna Abrams, and produced by Rock Mafia for the first season soundtrack to Hannah Montana. You might remember Jeannie as the co-writer of songs like This Is The Life, True Friend and Rockstar. Ken Hauptman has only 7 credits to his name, and nthing of real importance, but Aruna Abrams is actually a singer and DJ who has been working since 2001, up until at least 2016, so I'm assuming the song may have been originally meant for her. Glad it was given to the Hannah people. A glossy, new-wavey pop-rock BOP with a driving electric guitar and a drum rhythm that leads everything, the lyrics are about how confident and full of "nerve" Hannah is as she pursues a guy romantically, and is determined to show him what she's made of, and has an overall feeling of female empowerment. I think it's a pretty well-known season 1 song, and comes from the Halloween episode, "Torn Between Two Hannahs".
The episode immedaitely opens with Robby playing Stand on the guitar (which I mentioned in this write-up, over 6 months ago. Jesus.) and singing, with Miley joining soon after. They finish singing, and Miley expresses excitement about the song, and how she can't wait to record it (which, you know, she never does) and then asks "What's the bad news?" Lilly expresses confusion, because it's a great song, why would there be bad news? Miley explains that every time Robbyhas bad news, he tries to soften the blow with a great song - The Best Of Both Worlds, she had to get braces. This Is The Life, Jackson decided not to go to camp. Pumpin' Up The Party, her goldfish died. (I find it a bit of a kii that the script used those last two songs, when they were the first two Hannah songs eliminated from the soundtrack.) Miley tells her dad that she can handle whatever it is, and Robby quickly replies that her cousin Luann is coming to visit, and immediately asks "Who wants pie?" to which Oliver quickly expresses excitement and runs to the kitchen to get some (SAME). Miley freezes in horror and Robby starts playing the song again, but Miley stops him and asks "When does her broomstick land?". She and Robby start arguing about her cousin, with Robby reminding her that Luann pulled her out of a well when they were 6, and Miley reminding him that she was the one who pushed her into it in the first place, and Robby says it was accident and kids sometimes do things without thinking. Oliver then tries to kill a fly and ends up hitting his plate so it goes onto his shirt, covering it in cherry pie filling, but he puts it on the table and continues to eat, happy he got the fly. Robby says he didn't plan it, but there's an example. Miley is still upset, because she doesn't wanna share her bathroom with "the Princess of Darkness" and says she;s going to stay at Lilly's. Robby tells her that the two of them have grown and are a lot alike. The door bell rings and Miley says she's nothing like that horrible ugly witch as she opens the door to reveal Luann saying "Howdy cuz!" and looking exactly like Miley albeit a countrified version of her. (Obviously, Miley played both characters.) After the theme song, Luann gives a tin of Robby's favorite Halloween cookies to him, and the rest of them - besides Miley - take one. Miley tells Lilly not to eat her cookie, because they were made by the devil's little helper. Lilly tells Miley she's being ridiculous, takes a bite, and pretends to choke dramatically. Oliver mentions how amazing it is how much Miley and Luann look alike, and Luann says they always have. She then tells them about how when they were younger, Miley was in the Little Miss Tater Pageant, but Luann had to take Miley's place for the talent part because Miley got nervous and barfy. Miley tells Lilly she wasn't nervous, Luann had slipped her some bad catfish. She then tells Lilly that she has always been jealous of Miley because she can sing and Luann can't. When Lilly asks what she did for the talent, Miley says "Pig calls" which Luann is doing for the others. Oliver gets flirty with Luann, and Luann pushes him off the back of the couch, and says her mama warned her about handsome California fellers. Lilly then asks Miley about how she named her pet pig Luann, and Luann starts laughing and snorting like a pig and Miley says, "And now you know why." Later on the beach, Lilly tells Miley she doesn't understand her problems with her cousin, cause she seems really nice. Miley then compares Luann to a Venus Flytrap, saying it's a pretty plant, until it throws you down a well, and adding that there are horns beneath Luann's pig tails. Lilly then does an impression of Robby to tell Miley to give Luann a chance, and tells Miley she should invite Luann to Traci's Halloween party. Miley says there's no way she's letting her near the Hannah world, calling her a bunch of names in the process. Lilly scolds her, and Luann walks over and gives a shell to Miley as a gift. Miley says it's pretty...a pretty good place to hide a posionous hermit crab. She then smashes the shell over and over again. Luann says she was just trying to be nice, and runs away crying. (Honestly, she makes me feel sorry for her. Miley gets an A+ for acting.) Miley tells Lilly that Luann is clever, cause she tricked Miley into looking stupid, and Lilly says it worked, she looked pretty stupid. Miley says "I told you. She's an evil genius." Miley then goes home and Robby asks what happened with Luann, cause she's in the guest room and pretty upset. Miley says it could have something to do with the fact that she accused Luann of trying to kill her. The two of them continue to talk, and Robby convinces Miley to fix things with Luann. Miley knocks on her door and asks if she's okay, and Luann replies "Yup, just packing up my bags and working on my plan for world domination." Miley apologizes, and Luann opens her door and amits she was always a little jealous. Miley says they should take the past and bury it, and Luann says yeak, kind of like what they used to do with their Aunt Pearl's roadkill ravioli. Miley laughs and says there was always gravel in hers. She then invites Luann to go to Traci's party with her, and Luann says she's touched. It cuts to Hannah in her closet when Lola walks in to tell her the limo is there to take them to the party. Hannah says "Let's do this" but Lola asks where Luann is, and Hannah says she's not going cause she was at the beach boogie-boarding all day and got a really bad sunburn. Lola says she hates that, but at least the two of them are friends now. Hannah agrees, saying they're the best of pals and gets ready to go but tells Lola she forgot her purse, and she'll meet her out in the limo. She shuts the door, then pushes the button on the wall to make Hannah's clothes rotate. Miley is revealed tied up and gagged on the platform. Luann scolds Miley for not being able to see this coming, and saying she should've gone to rodeo camp instead of wasting time in singing classes. Miley mumbles against the gag, and Luann asks "What's that girl? You want Hannah to sing at the party? God idea." then sings The Best Of Both Worlds horribly. (Real quick: Mad respect to Miley. After taking all those vocal lessons, I don't know how I would make sure i would sound bad when i was singing, so I think it's great that Miley can do it.) Luann then reveals quickly she's out to destroy Miley/Hannah's career, then cackles as she leaves. Miley gets free then calls Oliver to tell him she needs his mom to give her a ride to the party (meaning Oliver's mom must know the secret) and tells him he can go too. It cuts to the two of them outside the party, and Oliver expresses his disbelief about Luann's actions, saying it's going to make his date with her the next day a little awkward. (His attraction to Luann is interesting to think about, since she looks exactly like Miley, and he had a massive crush on Hannah, and even though he never expressed interest in Miley, it could have something to do with it. Psychology is fun.) He then asks her what Miley will do when she finds her, and Miley says she'll rip off her wig and punch her in the nose. She also says it shouldn't be hard to find her, cause she's the only one who will look exactly like her. She then opens the curtain to enter the party, and sees that every girl is dressed like Hannah, complete with wigs. Miley says it's gonna be a little harder then she thought, and Oliver nods. It cuts to Lilly and Luann at the refreshments table, while I Got Nerve plays in the background, officially marking it's first appearence in the show. Luann is acting and talking like herself, and Lilly notices she's being weird. Traci walks up to Luann, thinking it's Hannah, and Luann insults the party and Traci. Traci leaves, and Lilly asks what's wrong with her cause she's been acting weird since they got there, like she wants the whole party to hate her, and realizes it's Luann. Luann then starts to insult Lilly, and Lilly says she's gotta get Luann out of there before she blows Miley's secret. Luann replies excitedly, saying she didn't plan on taking the wig off until Lilly said that, then quickly runs off. It goes back to Miley and Oliver, who says he had a dream like this, only it was a room full of Jessica Simpsons and he had more then one chest hair. Miley tells Oliver to focus cause they have to find the real fake Hannah. Lilly then runs over, pushing Oliver out of the way not realizing it's him, and grabs Miley. She says she's not going to let her ruin her best friend's life. Miley says she is her best friend, and Lily says she can't full her with the fake Miley accent. Miley says she is Miley, and she has to go find Luann. She tries to leave when Lilly grabs her nose to stop her. Oliver comes over and says that Miley's telling the truth. Lilly asks him what he's doing there, and Miley says she needed his mom cause her and Luann rode off in the limo. Lilly lets go of Miley and says they have to find her quickly, because she's about to blow Miley's secret. Miley says "She wouldn't" and Lilly says she would, and lies by saying she thought of it all by herself, and not to believe her cause she's evil. They run off and start checking random people to see if they're Luann. Luann then quickly walks on the stage which has a microphone, saying she's the real Hannah Montana, and she has a little announcement, and saying they might wanna get out their fancy Hollywood phone cameras for it. Oliver rushes to Lilly and Miley saying he found her, and Miley says "Good work". Luann says she has something stuck in her "craw" then spits onto a vase some distance away. The crowd reacts with disgust, and Luann says "Bingo". Miley then gets ready to rush onto the stage to fight her, but Lilly stops her, saying that Luann could end up ripping both their wigs off. Oliver says he has a plan, and they go off to execute it. Luann says everyone is about to see something they never expected, then starts reciting the lyrics to The Other Side Of Me, and just as she's about to take the wig off, the lights go out and someone pulls her behind the curtain to the stage. The lights come back up and Traci goes up to the stage to talk to the party crowd. Backstage, Oliver and one of the Hannahs are looking at Lilly holding another one of the Hannahs. Hannah 1 says that Luann is so busted, but Hannah 2 says that they grabbed the wrong one in the dark and she's Miley. Hannah 1 says nice try, but her best friends won't fall for it. Oliver asks Lilly if she has any idea, and Lilly says "Not a clue" so Oliver grabs Hannah 1 as well. Hannah 2 says they have to get Hannah 1 out of there before she reveals her secret, and Hannah 1 says "You mean my secret." Oliver says he has an idea and knows how to tell which one is the real Miley. He says both of them should kiss him. Hannah 2 quickly says "Okay" but Hannah 1 reacts with disgust and Oliver lets go of Hannah 1 cause it's clearly Miley. Miley looks impressed. (Personally, I think it would've been funnier/better if they really did end up grabbing the wrong one in the dark, and Hannah 2 had been Miley instead of Luann, but I digress.) It cuts to Miley sitting on the couch at home with her dad discussing what he's learned from this situation, like parents should believe their kids when they say their cousins are evil, and he should always take his cell phone when he leaves, and he's sorry. Robby says she won't have to worry about it much longer cause her uncle is coming to pick Luann up to take her home. Miley's upset that she doesn't have time to get her back. Robby tells her that "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." Their neighbor, Mr. Dontzig, comes in, dressed as a pumpkin, but looking extremely disheveled and asking for help cause the children keep coming. This is part of the subplot, where Jackson and Robby decide to make their house as scary as possible because their neighbor kept teasing them about their bad decorations from the past. When kids had come to trick-or-treat, they scared the crap out of them, maing the parents upset. They said they just wanted to be as scary as the guy next door, and the parents ask if they mean Mr. Happy Pumpkin Man. Mr. Dontzig egged them on to get them to be too scary and make the whole neighborhood hate them. Anyway, Dontzig is asking for help because the children are like pirhannas and keep coming, almost as if someone put an ad in the paper. Robby says that's too slow, and if someone wanted to get news out fast they'd just run down the Pacific Coast highway with a bullhorn. Dontzig says "You didn't" and Robby says into it "Oh yes I did. Gotcha" then tells the kids waiting outside to come in, and Dontzig runs screaming. Miley asks about his revenge lesson, and Robby says he was teaching that to her and it's too late for him. It ends with the doorbell ringing, and Robby yells to Miley to have her tell Luann that her dad is there. The door opens and in comes Robby's brother, Bobby Ray, who's apparently his twin. Dontzig comes in to talk to Robby, realizes there's two of him, and runs screaming. Again.
I love a good Halloween episode and that one is always entertaining. I've always loved this song. It's just such a fun, catchy, fist-pumping jam you can sing right along with by your second listen, and is easy to work out to. It never gets old, and you can always catch me singing every single second every time it comes on, no matter how often it plays. And honestly, it's actually really cathartic to listen to and sing along with this for me right now. It's making me feel like I can do anything, and I really need that motivation. All of that said, I think #23 is a perfect place for it, so I'm glad y'all did this one right. I don't really have any more thoughts about it. The song was one of the four sonfs from the first season soundtrack performed on The Best Of Both Worlds Tour. Critically, AllMusic called it a "spunky, new-wavey girl power anthem" and made it one of their track picks, and that's pretty much it.

Y'all have taste, cause I only got positive comments for this. Let's start with @DJHazey (7) who probably lost taste over time: Definitely remember this one. I'm betting it was the fast-paced chorus that initially made me like this back in the day. However, I see I don't even have it saved to a playlists today which matches up to the fact that it isn't exactly popping off the way I thought it would/could. Let me just say I hope that doesn't happen to me, cause it still pops all the way off. Every time. Currently on play 16. Next we have @Maki (7.5) who uses the "b" word again: This is good, but I keep forgetting it because of how basic it sounds. Great guitar use, although it fails to stand out. The guitar? Failing to stand out? What are you listening to? Next we have another comparison from @phily693 (8) but one I'm very here for: It’s very Sk8r Boi. Yes, I completely agree, which is why I love it so much. And @M24 (8.5) may have been surprised by the rush of joy this song brought: Such an empowering song! Another one that I almost never remember how good it makes me feel until I listen to it. It really lifts spirits. It's wonderful. @iheartpoptarts (9) recognizes Disney's abilty to higher great songwriters and producers: Big chorus. I don’t know if they had any idea back then how big this show would be but they sure brought the quality songs. Not sure if they knew, but I definitely think they were hoping it would be, and therefore prepared for it. And we have a couple people who mention the show! @Ana Raquel (10) makes a request: Insert that scene with the spider walking through her arm when she was lip syncing for Lilly. Iconic. That's one of my favorite episodes, but I'll talk about that later. I will link that below though. And finally, @savilizabeths (10) deserves some toast for this comment: Jackson and Robbie Ray’s parody version about toast on the show was truly a moment. Regardless, another great song from the early Hannah days. Because of this rate I have literally had this song in my head for weeks and have been torturing my girlfriend and sister by getting it in theirs. The chorus is truly an ear worm of the best kind. Everyone should have this song stuck in their head. It's catchy-chorus perfection.

Jam to this at least one more time:

Enjoy the performance from the tour:

Of course, the classic Avril song:
