Ah thank you. I needed a thread bump and you gave me one. Now, on to the next one, and you might be posting a different kind of gif afterwards.
When you said a big single would be leaving I (stupidly) wished it was Can't Be Tamed. Alas.
Fly On the Wall is the weirdest bop and y'all did it dirtier than it deserved. But that's a trend.
Of course you did. Of course you wanted that. Cause you lack taste.
But that's the truth, that sentence right there (oop). And damn, I was hoping this would be on the top of the next page for -aesthetics. Oh well.
What's that? Two eliminations in one day? Is it possible? Yes. Yes it is.
I think Ms.

Favorite Lyric: And when I can't be with you, dream me near. Keep me in your heart and I'll appear. (It's such beautiful imagery and a wonderful thought and so well-written and just...ugh amazing that it was (presumably) written by a 14 year old.)

Right Here was written by Miley, Antonina Armato and Tim James and produced by the latter two for Miley's debut album. Musically, it leans towards Miley's rock influences more then her pop ones, and is clearly a sound that suits her extremely well, almost having a bit of a punk-like feel. Despite the sound, which is usually associated with anger and angst, the song is an extremely sweet and well-written ode to friendship, with Miley's soft, vulnerable vocals in the first verse giving way to strength and conviction in the chorus, which continues through the rest of the song. An up-beat electric guitar and fast-paced drums form the core of this song's musical identity, adding to the rockier feel of the song, even including an almost-guitar solo after the second chorus and bridge. I've always considered this to be a hidden highlight of the debut, something that was overshadowed by more well-known songs on the album, but was just as amazing. So you can imagine my surprise - and extreme happiness - when I saw that it was TOP THREE of the entire album, and made the top 20. I called for it a little while ago, because I assumed it would have been going soon, but when I realized it was actually #19, I was ecstatic. This has always been one of my favorite songs by her, because of how much I loved the lyrics. As a kid who didn't have many friends, the idea that someone I loved as much as Miley would be there for me filled me with joy. Of course, even as a 7 year old, I knew it wasn't
really for me, but the message came through: if I needed her, listen to her music. And that's what I did, and continue to do. The song is most likely about a friend or family member, but it could easily be about fans too. Especially with the lyric I highlighted above: "When I can't be with you, dream me near". It's a beautiful sentiment and one of the best lyrics she has, but it's something that fits people who turn to music to heal extremely well. An artist we love can't actually be with us, so we listen to their music and dream we're sharing something with them, as they shared something with us through their songs. I love this idea, and I wish more artists incorporated lyrics like that into thier music. ALSO the idea of the song and that lyric are really relevant right now, since we have to be isolated from our friends, and I'm sure we all miss them. Stay safe and happy guys, and talk to your friends as often as possible! Another brightside is I'm so happy no one actively hates the song. The majority of scores were in the 7-8.5 range, which helped boost it into the top 20 where it belongs. I must congratulate y'all once again on your correct taste. The song was thankfully included in the setlist for Miley's Best Of Both Worlds Tour, and she dedicated the song to all the people who worked on the tour with her. Grateful queen. This is why we stan. Critics sadly (and tastelessly) ignored the song for their reviews, so it's up to you guys. Will you let me down?
Nope! Thankfully there was a lot of love for it in the comments. But first, we need to start with
@Maki (8.25) who made a mistake while scoring:
Typical Miley pop rock tune that gets lost in the mix. I over-scored this one for sure, but have just realized the mistake that I swapped its score with "As I Am", which got 6.75 which is the actual score of "Right Here". Oh well... Dddd nice job bud. Well, if you gave it that score, it would've switched places with Fly On The Wall, so I hope you're not too upset with yourself. And I checked, if you gave As I Am an 8.25 instead of a 6.75, it would've landed at 66 instead of 71. Oof. Guess you'll have to be more careful. Next we have
@phily693 (10) who I think wasn't being completely objective wih his score:
This “spoke” to 13 year old me, but re-listening now I’ve no idea why. It’s full of clichés and is quite basic but I still know every word and rock out to the guitar. Dddd thanks for pushing it into the top 20. And speaking of rocking out, a couple of you pointed it's rockier feel.
@pop3blow2 (9)
A bit of a rawk-bop gem. Perfect statement as always. And
@M24 (7.5), who even references another artist:
Miley having her Avril moment? Very punk rock for her. If she fully explored a punk rock sound, I'd die of joy. But this is a nice hold-over until then. I really wanna give
@savilizabeths (8) a hug:
This one is just so soft and sweet. It feels like a warm hug. And then it picks up steam for the chorus and beyond and it’s really cool. The lyrics remind me a lot of my best friend. She’s such a loving soul and really makes everyone she loves feel like this. I know that even though she’s currently in America and I’m in NZ that I’m still not alone. It’s such a sweet song. Maybe not one that I’d love without having the nostalgic factor but hey, what can you do? You're never alone sis! Hugs! And who cares, it's still amazing either way. Y'all actually enjoyed talking about friends and "the feels".
@Entropy (8) had the kind of friendship I totally would have:
So emosh. Me and my friend used to send each other the lyrics on MSN when we were sad. God we were such losers. But yeah, this song gives me those “feels” people talk about. If that makes you a loser, then I guess I am too. Hey, let's start a Losers' Club! It'll be fun! Ddd anyway, our final comment goes to
@DJHazey (10) who also mentions feelings, and just
gets it:
This would've been my 11 one day. It's not like I love it any less, I just have had numerous favorite Miley songs over the years. Love Miley's soothing vocals which lends the experience to a pat on the back you might need while listening to it. She also sings the words with so much conviction, the feels are always real for me. "When I can't be with you, dream me near" is one of her best lyrics. It's times like this where I stan you and your taste. Thank you. And if you had give this your 11 instead, it would've been #17. Just so you know.
Jam and tell your friends you love them:
Enjoy the live perfromance from the tour:
This is a song for fans that I think really connects with this, in that artists are there for us when we need them They're our sanctuary, and we're their's:
And this is one of my favorite Avril songs from the same year:
