He/Him
Now that we're ready for a new page, I can get the next song out.
I forgot to mention it's another surprising one for me, in that I never expected it to get this far.
But I guess that's the power of a certain songwriter.
Let's start with someone in the middle, shall we? @DJHazey's (6) expectations were met: Pretty straight-forward soundtracky song that I expected to hear. I think that's why I think it works much better as a song for the movie then it would as part of Taylor's album. It just is a wonderful moment for the soundtrack. And despite a high-ish score, @Maki (8) doesn't go crazy for it: I don't have much to say about this one. It's really good, but doesn't evoke any particular feeling. The chorus is the best part. I'm gonna be honest, you're not wrong. The chorus is the best part. And @iheartpoptarts (6) noticed a lyrical connection with another Disney classic: I appreciate the ‘So Yesterday’ lyrics. I choose to believe it’s a homage to vintage Disney pop and not some copy/paste job. Okay wait. I feel like it was a homage, cause Tay is definitely smart enough to write one, and now I'm thinking that the entire point was to emulate Disney, and the song was always specifically written for the movie, leaving a lot of my write-up pointless...oh well, I'm leaving it in. She wasn't alone in noticing the connection though. @savilizabeths (10) brought it up as well: Taylor Swift pens a bit of a So Yesterday moment and gives it to Hannah Montana to sing. Iconic. This is definitely my favourite Hannah song from the movie though. It’s catchy, fun and infectious. I just get the biggest smile from listening to this. A movie highlight. Miley/Hannah, Taylor and Hilary connected to the same song, and mentioned in the same sentence? The same write-up? The POWER that has. And yes, I'm aware how much you didn't like the other Hannah songs for the movie, thank you for reminding me. @phily693 (9)...actually makes a fair point: The title makes it seem like it’s a terrible country ballad. But it’s good. Very good actually. I totally get thinking that. But also, I would like to point out Taylor doesn't know how to write a terrible country ballad. @pop3blow2 (8.5) will forever be one of the biggest Disney nerds I know: Radio Disney played the crap out of this in 2009. Still holds up well. I never actually listened to it, but that doesn't surprise me. And yes. Yes it does. @Entropy (9) breaks down the greatness of this: One of my favourite Hannah Montana songs. It’s quintessential Hannah. The verses are catchy, the chorus hits hard, the production is fun, the lyrics are faux deep. What more could you want? Correct, correct, correct, correct and nothing. Now, let's end with @M24 (9) who says something really sweet and I would like to believe is true for all of us: I love to sing along to the chorus! Plus the song has a nice message, I like to believe that whatever happens in my life, my home will always be there. So for both reasons I score this high. Awwwwww, amazing. Love that.

You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home was written by Taylor Swift - yes, that Taylor Swift - and Martin Johnson and produced by Matthew Gerrard for Miley to record as Hannah for Hannah Montana: The Movie and it's soundtrack. Now, if you don't know Taylor is, I'm sure you do now so I'm not gonna tell you about the 10-time Grammy Award winning queen. And you should already know who Matthew Gerrard is by now too. So, Martin Johnson. He's the front-runner for the bands Boys Like Girls - who you might have heard of - and The Night Game. Boys Like Girls' biggest hit is...Two Is Better Than One, featuring Taylor Swift and was released in 2009. I think it's safe to say that this song was written around the same time that one was, and somehow ended up in Disney's hands through whatever means they have to get songs. The song was featured in the finale performance of the movie so let me break that down for you. I don't think I'll need a spoiler for this one. Okay, so you know that at the beginning of the movie, Miley was acting really spoiled and way too caught up in being Hannah, including getting into a shoe fight with Tyra Banks. So, her dad took her to Tennessee to force her to celebrate her Grandma's birthday, and spend time with her for two weeks, implying that they may be "done" with Hannah cause of the way Miley has been acting. So after a bunch of shenanigans, she ends up realizing how horrible she's been and fixes it all, and I'm going to elaborate on all of this in a future elimination, which is why I don't need a spoiler now. Anyway, all of this ends with Miley giving a benefit concert as Hannah for her home town, performing this song at the end of the movie, since it helps convey the movie's theme of no matter what you've gone through or where you've been, you can always go home. (Sadly, I think we're all aware this isn't always the case for people, but it's a Disney movie so we'll let it slide.) Because of it's placement in the movie, I've always felt it works better as the closer to the soundtrack, not the opener. I discussed all of that in my write-up for the album, but it still really bothers me. How did they fuck that up so bad? I mean really? It's a good thing you change track-list order in iTunes. Anyways, since there's a chance this wasn't always meant for the movie, I have to say I'm glad Taylor didn't keep it for herself. I guess it's possible it's a left-over from Fearless, where it would've fit almost perfectly, but considering the credits, and the timeline of her duet with Boys Like Girls, I think we can assume it might have originally been meant for her third album, which became Speak Now, and this just wouldn't fit on there at all. It's way too...twee, I guess is the word for it. Don't get me wrong! I love it, but I love it as the perfect ending to the soundtrack for this movie recorded by Miley, partly cause she sounds great on the song and partly cause it sums up the themes of the movie so well. Speak Now is when Taylor started to really grow into herself as an adult song-writer, with more mature lyrics as well as production, so I - and I'm sure many people - would've been disappointed if this was included. No, it's best as a Hannah song. And what a Hannah song it is! The country-pop-rock production is perfectly produced, with the guitars getting me to dance, the drums getting me to jam, the melody getting me to sing, and the lyrics getting me to smile. It just feels so joyful, the instrumental is uplifting and euphoric and Miley's vocals really convey the happiness required for a song like this. God, she's amazing. It's always been one of my favorite songs from the Hannah soundtracks, and I always love listening to it. Of course, I have to praise Taylor for her perfect lyrical and melodic songwriting. She rarely ever got it wrong in these days. I love it when two of my queens cross paths randomly. And can I say how happy I am that you guys were able to recognize such talent? I had no idea this was so well-liked or loved. I thought it would be a struggle for this to survive here, so when I realized that it would make top 20, I was ecstatic. I guess that's what I get for underestimating Taylor, huh? I'm glad it made it so far, but it leaving now means that The Climb has became the highest rated song from the movie soundtrack. is anyone surprised? No, no one? Good, you shouldn't be. Anyway, none of the reviews I saw had anything to say about this bop, so I'll turn it over to you guys as usual.(created by Suburbia)

What a damn bop:
A fucking classic:
One of my favorite early Taylor songs:
Taylor's gorgeous song from the soundtrack:
And the Boys Like Girls duet (I've never actually listened to this. Should I?):
