The Best Of Both Worlds was written by familiar names Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil and produced by Gerrard for the first season of Hannah Montana and its soundtrack. It was ultimately chosen as the show's theme song, causing it to be burned into the brains of millions of children and parents around the world. It's probably one of the first Disney theme songs that comes to mind for people of my generation or older. Due to it's theme song status, it doesn't have a "first episode" cause obviously it's featured in every episode. It was released as the lead single from the soundtrack on March 28, 2006, and was serviced to Radio Disney. Due to it's #62 peak on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs Chart, it made an appearance on the Hot 100, debuting and peaking at #92, making it only one of two theme songs to chart there in the 00s (The other being Leave It All To Me by Miranda Cosgrove, from iCarly. Taste!). It did better internationally, reaching #43 on the U.K. Singles Chart, #66 on the German Singles Chart, #17 on the Irish Singles Chart and #2 on the Venezuela Pop Rock Chart. I wasn't kidding when I said the song is ingrained in the minds of millions of people. Play it for any 18-30 year-old, or their parent's today, and they'll immediately recognize the drum pattern and guitar melody that open the song, and unless they despise it (certainly a possibility) they'll start singing the lyrics right off the bat. It's just an iconic song. It's easy to see why it was chose as the theme song. It's a huge bop, it's catchy, memorable, feels reminiscent of a popular genre at the time, and the lyrics describe the Miley/Hannah situation perfectly. I've always loved the production. The way the intro starts it with a boppy pop-rock feel, but the first verses comes in and it's mainly these bubbly underlying electronic synths and synth-y handclaps, but in the build-up of "starrrrr" for the first pre-chorus, the drums start banging and the chorus is full on pop-rockiness again, and it keeps the drums for the second verses, while bringing back the synths and handclaps and adding a few flourishes, and the next chorus on is pop-rock goodness. It's just wonderfully produced and written, cause goddamn is it catchy. The guitar melody gets stuck in my head all the time, almost as often as the vocal melody - both verse and chorus - does. It's just so easy to sing along too, and a gain, a total classic. All this said, it should've left an elimination or two ago. I love it, and I get that it's iconic, but If We Were A Movie - which was actually the single's B-side - is a better song. I mentioned that if that had gotten one more point, it would've been #10, and that would've made this #11. I really wish that had happened. But it's okay. I'll survive. This leaving now officially makes Nobody's Perfect the highest-ranked Hannah song, which is the outcome I was expecting so I'm satisfied. Are you? And how long will it last? We'll know soon...but for now, let's discuss the fact that this got a ton of performances - one for the music video, during her opening act for The Cheetah Girls' 2006 The Party's Just Begin Tour, on Good Morning America, on Live With Regis & Kelly, at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, on Oprah, and of course, as the finale for The Best Of Both Worlds Tour. Critically, the song was one of AllMusic's track picks, and that's pretty much it.

So once again, it's up to you guys. Let's start with low scorer @iheartpoptarts (5) who is technically wrong:
It’s really quite impossible not to be tired of this song if you’ve turned on the Disney channel ever. Well, I'm not tired of it. Several people here aren't tired of it. So I would say it is possible. Next, the song isn't really replay material or @DJHazey (6): Explosive chorus and nostalgia-rich being her show's theme tune, but severely lacking in actually being playlist material for me these days. Welp, that's fair I guess. The words "classic" and "iconic" were used by quite a few people, one of them being @TwistedInnocence (7): It’s not my favourite Hannah song but as it’s the theme it’s iconic in all its cheesy glory. This sums up my feelings of the song with a higher score pretty well. Even non-show fans knew the song, with @Maki (9) telling us: Even though I've never seen a single episode of the show, this song immediately sounded familiar and kind of brought some nostalgia. The chorus is a classic, but the rest isn't enough for the highest score. The show is a fun mid-late 00s romp I would recommend. @savilizabeths (9) points out what it's not but still loves it: I mean, come on. It’s a classic. Is it my favourite Hannah Montana song? No. Is it any kind of masterpiece? No. Is it a giant bop that will forever have a place in my heart? Yup! How can your mood not lift the second you hear this? I couldn’t bring myself to give it full marks, but it’s iconic. This commentary is a big mood, besides that last line. @M24 (9.1) stans and gets a tad mixed-up.mp3: I love this one. The chorus just fills me up with so much energy. It makes sense that it was chosen as the title track. Dddd it's okay we all know what you meant. Like me, @Entropy (10) was obligated to love it still: I couldn’t give this anything other than a 10, it is THE Hannah Montana song. Except for the song that's still left kii. @phily693 (10) makes a fair point: It’s hard to separate this from being the theme song, it’s even spelling out the show’s premise. But a total bop. I used to cringe at the kids in that audience in the video “screaming” not knowing who she even was, but I can’t lie that that would be me today bopping to this. I never thought about that, but it's kind of hilarious. Also, that would totally be me too. Finally, @pop3blow2 (11) is the sole person to stan this completely, and I'm not surprised cause it's right up his alley: I mean, it’s a classic. What else can we say? It goes without saying that my whole Gemini personality was into the 'two people thing' for a bit with her. I can certainly see you having a field day with it.

Bop to this iconic classic's music video. The extended intro is everything:

Live in London, where she talks to an audience member. Adorable:

A blurry live on Oprah as Miley:

Live on GMA:

And of course, live on The Best Of Both Worlds Tour:

Whew, a truly classic Disney soundtrack falls. The album that started at all. If it wasn't for these songs, and this show, would we even know who Miley Cyrus is, aside from being Billy's daughter? I think so. I just think the journey would've looked vastly different. And I can't imagine anyone else in the role of Hannah Montana/Miley Stewart. With this debut, Miley made the first step in being a huge soundtrack to my childhood, as well as many others out there. With these songs, she stepped onto the TV screens and into the radios of our hearts to become one of the most well-loved Disney acts of the era. What would these sound like if they were recorded by a different person, such as JoJo like they wanted? Would the show have been as successful without Miley (and her dad) in lead roles? I never want to know, because this show helped me grow as well as taught me lessons I needed as a kid. I'm really happy to see the majority of the songs do so well here, and that we can all celebrate music that could've been easily forgotten.

Ooof, these were tough eliminations! I kind of agree If We Were a Movie should've outlasted The Best of Both Worlds... but then I scored the latter a few decimal points higher, so I should've thought twice before doing that haha, nostalgia definitely clouded my judgment.

Two More Lonely People was overdue, and I think Permanent December should be next. It sneaked into the top ten but imho it's not as good as the remaining songs (even if I did score it with a 9+ if I remember well).

Oh, and by the way, @Music Is Life, why do your personal love stories never have a happy ending? Your "If We Were a Movie" writeup killed me... your friend didn't say anything after you told her you had a crush on her... and then you fell for not one but TWO straight friends?? Please tell me you still have a happy romance story reserved for us. Please.

Awww I don't really know. I just have been extremely unlucky I guess. I'm a big hopeless romantic who wants love but can't seem to hold onto it or find it ddddd. And sorry, but I kinda really don't. I'm extremely single right now. But thank you.
