Bad Mood was written and produced by - you guessed it - Miley and Oren Yoel. It was released on September 29, 2017 as track 8 of Younger Now. The song was also performed the song on Saturday Night Live on November 4, 2017 to promote the album.

So Younger Now is now down to four songs, which again is still more then I thought it would have in the top 40, so congrats to it I guess. All of the songs that made it, including this one, are at least good though so we managed to do something right I guess, since I think the top 5 from the album we chose is the top 5. That said, this is my lowest score left and the correct choice for the first to go from the top 5. I think part of the problem I have with it is the wasted potential.Yes it is a good song, but when I listen to it I can practically feel that it could be so much better. One issue of the song is that the energy is really lacking. Miley sounds less like she's in a bad mood or more like she's kinda bored. The shuffling percussion is a great moment in the production, especially coming from the simple guitar line in the first verse, but Miley does nothing to match it until she adlibs in the final chorus and even then it doesn't do much. She sounds great for sure, but the the actual emotion ust isn't there. And what bothers me is that I actually know the song could be better - because of that SNL performance. For one thing, the beefed-up production helps a ton. The electric guitars replacing the acoustic amps up the intensity, and I think brings the anger the song should have. And Miley actually brings it live in the way she didn't in the studio, actually giving the song what it needed. It's a great performance, and raises the song from a cute 8 with interesting-but-not-interesting-enough production and nothing much else to at least a great 9.5 with intense production and amazing energy. Lyrically the song is actually pretty good, and I think is written from the perspective of a woman ready to end things with her partner - again making me wonder if parts of the album were written by Miley's subconcious dddd. There isn't really any new ground for her lyrically explored, but the narrative is interesting, and again, better served by the live performance then the actual song. It actually makes me wonder if the album would have been better overall in live performances ddd. I guess we'll never know.

All the commentary I got for this one was positive, so let's celebrate that.gif! @M24 (7.5) can relate: Relatable queen of non-morning people like me. It's one of the most innovative tracks in the album for sure. I can't quite describe that chorus, is it country? I never really heard something like it. I would say it's like country rock mixed with tribal music nn. @boombazookajoe (8) enjoys it: A definite highlight on this album! Love the production in the chorus. It definitely earned it's top 5 spot for the album here. @spaceship (9) has a good word for it: I love how primal this sounds and the chorus is really strong. I love how each chorus has different lyrics, I forgot to mention that. Lastly, @Sprockrooster (9.5) higlhights the best part and mentions a couple of queens: That middle-8 into final chorus is carrying this 8,0 for a track into great heights. I am getting Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood vibes from that final moment, which makes it a standout for me. Yeah that definitely elevates the song even as is, and I can really hear their influence on the song too.

Sorry about the long gap again y'all. But I'm just gonna let this one come out of nowhere.

Hate Me was written by Miley, Ali Tamposi, Andrew Watt and Louis Bell, and was produced by the latter two. Along with most of the album, it leaked in early 2020 (under the assumed name of If I Die) before being revealed as Hate Me and placed as track 9 of Plastic Hearts when Miley announced the tracklist. It was released with the rest of the album on November 27, 2020.

I'm gonna tell all of you right now: this is the last Plastic Hearts song we're gonna see for a while. And I'm not gonna lie, I stand by my nine and think it's a great song, but outside of the covers, this should have been the first song out from it. And I'm honestly surprised it wasn't and that it made it this far. From what I've seen, reception to it has been mostly very "meh" and I expected it to fall before the top 60. But y'all surprised me. Personally, my main issue with it is that it's too short. The lack of a bridge or third verse or something really bothers me. The fact that it goes straight from second chorus to chorus outro is really jarring for me. I like pretty much everything else about it though. The production is very laid-back, catchy, anthemic pop-rock, with the melodies to match. The chorus keeps me tapping my foot and the bass does a good job of almost deepening the song. And the outro is gorgeous. And I really, really like the lyrics. It feels like she's trying to engage in conversation with Liam directly through the song, basically going through how she's doing after the breakup in the verses, and posing the question og how her death would affect him, which I can sadly relate to. When I was a kid, I used to wonder how my death would affect the people in my life - particularly ones in my school. That idea of wondering if someone would still hate you if you were dead just really hits close to home for me. So yeah, really enjoy everything about the song except it's length.

Unsurprsingly in my opinion, very minimal commentary for this. @boombazookajoe (6) simply tells us: It doesn't do much for me. That's totally fair. I completely get why this isn't for everyone. I'm not even sure with a longer length if I would give it higher then a 9. And I hope @M24 (9) is oky with this placing in the grand scheme of things: Underrated cut, I don't see anyone talking about this one. It's a more laid-back pop rock number, and I'm here for that. The lyrics seem pretty personal. I think top 40 overall, and top 10 from Plastic Hearts is pretty good for the song.

Hmmm...wonder if anyone will care that this is gone?

F.U. was written by Miley, Karim Kharbouch (a.k.a. French Montana), Rami Samir Afuni & Maureen McDonald. It was produced by Afuni and released on September 30, 2013 as track 10 of Bangerz.

I feel like the stretch of eliminations from 40-25 is always an interesting one in rates with 80+ songs. For the most part, they're the songs people like - even really like - but don't love enough to put in the top 20/25. This is definitely one of those songs for me. It's an overdramatic, fun as hell, overproduced campy mess and I live for it every time I listen, but she definitely has better songs. So #38 is a great placing for it in my opinion, as much as I enjoy pretty much every single aspect of the song. I think the mind-numbing electronic synth that is constantly playing might be my favorite thing about the production. It feels like insanity. Just this constant buzzing in your head, like the rage Miley must feel. I also love the bubbling and clicks that come in the second/third verse. They add such a fun, weird element to it all. The keyboard that backs the entire thing up iadds the perfect dramatic flair too. Honestly, the song really is super overproduced but it works so damn well for me. It all comes together perfectly in my opinion. But my favorite parts of the song as a whole are the lyrics, the vocals, the personailty of it all. Miley is pissed, and absolutely scathing, tearing this cheating bastard apart. And we love to see it! And I actually think the collab works. French Montana's verse being placed between the chorus and Miley's second one is a weird decision, but it flows well and he sounds invested in the song. Overall just a really enjoyable song that works better then it has any right to.

I think this song has gotten the most commentary so far. And not everyone agrees with me. @Yeziirl (3.5) tells us: French Montana is unbearable somehow. That's how I feel about Big Sean most of the time ddd. And is that only reason you gave it such a low score...? Just curious. Next, @Butterfly (5.25) uses the "d" word: It’s not a bad song but the production has dated harder than anything else on Bangerz for me. Can chaos really be dated though? And @M24 (6) apologizes: I appreciate her vocals on this one. The chorus is a bit of a downer for me though. Sorry @Maki, I know you stan this one. Hmmm...I do agree that the chorus is a little weaker than the verses. But still super catchy. @boombazookajoe (9.5) cites a few possible inspirations: My favorite thing about this album is the whiplash of genres. This serves me a dash of Nancy Sinatra, Amy Winehouse, and Burn by Emeli Sande. I frigging love it. I love that about the album too. And I'm not sure which Emeli song you meant? Couldn't find a "Burn". I asked if anyone would care about this leaving. I imagine the next two at least will. @Sprockrooster (10) came close to an interesting decision: A massive 11-contender. From the first time I played Bangerz this was an instant standout. And it hold up very well in time. The structure of this song feels like a pinball machine. We go from one part of the song to the other and I am feeling electrified to singalong. Probably a lost single, just like my previous Miley-11 'Liberty Walk'. Love the stanning, but this would've been a terrible single choice nn. Especially compared to like, half the album. And @Maki (10) hits nearly all the same points I did: My favourite from this album ever since I first heard it. The best sonic standout of the album, too. The relentless drama, Miley killing it with those vocals and, whew, that pre-chorus and chorus combo really is brilliant. It better not be done wrong. Well, I think it did really well. But I'm sure you'll disagree dddd.

Ahh, Hate Me did so well to reach the top 40! I guess its time was due. Very satisfied Zombie is finally gone, but I guess I understand its placement if not all of you were familiar with the original.

I'm surprised my 11 is still here... if it reached the top 30 I'd be thrilled, but I think it's hanging by a veeery thin thread now. Excited to know what the tie is.

And no Hands of Love slander, thank you very much ♥

So I ended up calling my friend to watch Loki and just talk to her in general and happened to just do that all night ddd. But it ended up working out because now I can do this:
Okay I'm catching up after weeks of being dumb and WHAT THE FUCKKK.

Why did y'all get rid of the two best Bangerz album tracks, #GETITRIGHT and Rooting for My Baby?!

Why have you DESTROYED Dead Petz?

WHY IS HANDS OF LOVE STILL IN?>?????
I love this post. And, ask and you shall recieve.
And no Hands of Love slander, thank you very much ♥
Oop.

Hands Of Love was written (and I believe produced, since I can't actually find it) by Linda Perry and recorded by Miley for the movie Freeheld. From what I can find, it was released on October 2, 2015.

Freeheld is based on a true story as well as the documentary of the same name, and stars the amazing Julianne Moore and the iconic Elliot Page, as well as Michael Shannon, Steve Carell and Luke Grimes. The film follows lesbian cop Laurel Hester's (Moore) fight against the Ocean County, New Jersey Board of Chosen Freeholders to allow her pension benefits to be transferred to her partner Stacie Andree after a terminal cancer diagnosis in 2005, eventually being successful. I haven't seen either film, but between the plot and the cast I may need to give this a watch.
It's a great song. I love the vocal melody and the production, especially in the chorus and how it has a "stomp, stomp, clap" vibe. I love songs like that. I also love it in the second verse, and all the elements that come in. The piano keys and melody provide a great base for the song too. The song as a whole feels like a proper anthemic ballad, which I feel like makes sense considering who wrote it. And of course, Miley sounds great. I think it did really well to make the top 40, and be in the top 4 of the extras, another song that benefits from the really consisten scoring from y'all. That said, I'm sure it'll surprise no one to know that we won't be seeing any of the three remaining extras leave for a long time.

Back to a small amount of commentary for this one, starting with @boombazookajoe (6): I wanted to love this song when it came out but I mostly find it saccharine and boring. I guess you think saccharine is a bad thing? Oof. Sucks for you I guess xx. It's certainly nothing special but it serves it's purpose. Let's end with @M24 (9) who may have some things to say after this: What a gem buried in the extras. Simply beautiful, if balladphobes tank it, I'll have some words for them. That chorus is irresistible. Also, I love how she sings the word "we" here, it reminds me of someone else but I don't know who. I couldn't really tell you. She just sounds like Miley to me. And iconic balladphobe @Ana Raquel gave it an 8, so definitely not a song that was tanked I believe.

A few of my favorite Linda Perry productions:

Since, there's no one to mourn Hands of Love, I'll do it myself!

It was a joy to discover it among the extras. Miley's vocals and the cinematic production just make it an arresting song for me from the very beginning. And then that chorus hits you like a ton of bricks.. The choir-like middle-8 is pretty amazing to me too.

I suck at describing music ddd but I guess the song needed some kind of eulogy. I'm glad it made it this far! Also, I didn't know it was produced by Linda Perry!
