Hello, and welcome back! Last time we talked, Party In The U.S.A. had won, and Miley decided to take a few years off from music to focus on acting. But she eventually did come back, and with a bang. Since 2013, Miley’s music career has been a messy ride, full of stunts, cultural appropriation (yes we will be talking about it because it is important), lots of experimentation and generally just trying on any kind of music to see what fit her best. BUT. That doesn’t mean the music isn’t good! On the contrary, I would say that across the past nearly 8 years now, she released mostly the best music of her career so far. From Bangerz, a monster of a pop album that started off as one of the best Big Pop Girl campaigns of the 2010s, to Plastic Hearts a seriously great return to form and exploration of a more mature, mainstream pop rock sound that pulled influence from the past, Miley has been on a long musical journey full of its ups and downs, while basically living like any other person in their 20s – just someone who happens to be one of the most recognizable people and is a huge household name. So yes, this time we will be rating Miley’s messy adult years when it comes to her music, and I honestly think it’s going to be even more fun than last time! Rules 1.) You all know the drill. You will take the song list I will post below, listen to each of the songs as required, and score them on a scale from 0-10. 2.) You are allowed to give one song a score of 11. Choose wisely. 3.) It is not required, but you are allowed to include commentary for each song on the list. I love it when you do, cause I love to read your thoughts on the songs, even if I don't agree with them. Plus it gives me something to include in the write-ups besides my senseless babbling. 4.) You need to get these scores to me by Monday, March 22nd. That's SIX WEEKS people. That said, if an extension is required by the time we get there, I'll be happy to provide one. But please try to get ballots in by this deadline. Last thing: All of the wonderful artwork you will see here was created by my fellow bisexual, the wonderfully beautiful @Lost Boy. Feel free to heap praise upon him.
