So our 2 top are One Night Stand and Scandalous.
Either way we're heading for a Stargate winner...
So One Night Stand is pipped to the post by their biggest hit which kind of makes sense, even if I was hoping for a different outcome. Released as their 3rd single, and the single that launched their debut album, One Night Stand made the top 5 of the UK charts on release. It was also released as a single in the US (in a slightly remixed form), following Scandalous reaching the top 40 over there. I love that the video features both versions of the song, breaking out into the Sunship Radio Edit before the end of the video. The US video stands on it's own though, they look like superstars in it!
@tylerc904 (10) "What an opener. Sensations! Vibrations!"
@JMRGBY88 (10) "a stone cold bop."
Tea.
@berserkboi (9.8) " Not the best version but still such a magnificent earworm! Edit – actually listening to the other version again – this might be it!"
@Iggypig (10) "If I could, I would have given my 11 to the video version of this song which was released on the Be With Me single, and it was really hard choosing between this and my actual 11. 2001 was a great year for pop music, all of pops big players were present and girl group wise it was Atomic Kitten and Mis-Teeq that reigned supreme. I love this song and play it constantly, I've never tired of it."
I remember Frankensteining a version of the Brits performance using the B With Me CD single and a cassette tape recording. I managed to get it perfectly!
@Filippa (9) "Love that instrumental melody line in the beginning that can be heard in the chorus again which makes the chorus even more powerful."
@Untouchable Ace (10) "Another example of their iconiqueness."
@Remorque (10) "I never expected this one to take me back the way it does. It was one of their more R&B leaning songs from the Lickin' On Both Sides era and I still love it. I love Alesha's rap here followed by Sabrina's middle 8. Poor Su-Elise though. We had to wait for the Sunship Radio Edit to be able to hear her line..."
The Sunship version does get rid of Alesha's "time to get down" ad-libs though which is a shame.
Closing out with the 2 11 givers:
@Robsolete (11) ''As a fan of one night stands, both in the traditional sense and the Mis-teeq sense, this has always been that relatable bop. I was torn between this, Scandalous and Why? for my 11, and while I stan those songs as well (like anyone with taste) I always feel like this never gets quite the same amount of attention? This was always on my getting ready playlist when I first started going out at 17 and it always got me popping off, and it still does exactly the same all these years later. A bop for the ages.''
@londonrain (11) "So many contenders in this discography but this is the song I always think of when I think of Mis-Teeq. “High class, nice ass”... the only way this could be more iconic is if they did this in a Liverpool accent. IMAGINE a girl group going “High class, nice arse...”" "Spend your money but I've got my own carsh?"
