Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair is my lowest rated song on the Heaven's Sense EP, so well done everyone, I guess. Her performance on it is great though and I'd say she definitely elevates the track just that smidge to get it above average...

I do have some lower scores left that I'd very much see go in these first ten eliminations.

Another track from the Voice Coils EP is out at #64. This time we say goodbye to You in a Place for a While by Yourself. These 00s emo band song title lengths...

Working backwards for now it seems, this is the third track on the EP. This track sees a more avant garde or quirky arrangement with Mitski offering soaring vocals over it. It can all be a bit of a racket, especially if you aren't into this kinda thing typically so I can see why some weren't as enthused. Personally, this shared the same rating I gave the previous elimination and I preferred both An Atrium and the title track. Here's hoping those linger around a bit longer, perhaps?

It appears that this song was released in a digital single format through Shatter Your Leaves records. Said single features the track in a different form with half the length of the one featured on the EP. Might be worth a listen for all two of the fans here (that means you Crispy and pop3 xx) or something. I've linked it below.

Nobody sent any commentary and as previously mentioned the lack of Voice Coils information leads to empty eliminations. I apologize. See you tomorrow xx

Let me take this moment to give the same reminder that I probably posted in my previous rate. My likes are to encourage engagement and be a present host. They are not necessarily an endorsement.

Have a good night, babes.

It's ok to drop spoiler about the worst song leaving first <3
DDD

(You're doing an amazing job sweety, loving it!)

You totally have to be in the right mood to appreciate You in a Place for a While by Yourself, so I didn't see it lasting very long... It's quite long too and I get why people would be turned off by the end.

I mean... After listening to it for about six times...

But I quite liked it and it was my second highest score off the EP with a 7 ddddd.

And what even is this calling for a Retired cull?

Does it have its low points? Yes.
Does it have high points? Oh, absolutely.

Me chantey-ing along to Strawberry Blond...

The cull of Voice Coils material continues yet again. At least we broke the reverse tracklist order and skipped from track 3 to track 1 and left An Atrium alone for now. Whew, variety.

As both the title track and opening of the EP, I have to say this accomplishes what it should. It sets the tone for the rest of the release in terms of sound and atmosphere. Whether what all of that entails in the end is something someone actually likes or not is a different story (and it shows in the scores ddddd) but I'm sure this can be agreeable? As an intro it can feel a bit short as it leads to the longer lengths of the following tracks but for what it is, it works.

This ended up being the middle ground of my Voice Coils scores. I liked it more than the two previously eliminated songs but nowhere near as much as An Atrium. I really enjoyed Mitski's vocals here (and on the EP at large) and would like to see her doing similar stuff in her music more. We love soaring, theatrical vocals in this house.

It seems that at least some of y'all enjoyed this one a bit more as well according to the higher top scores. The low scores are still there but they didn't pop out of nowhere, they've been here since the first Voice Coils elimination. With only An Atrium left from this section, I wonder how that will compare in terms of general reception and score ranges. Personally I don't want to see that one leaving any time soon and have a decent selection of tracks I'd say bye to first, ideally. I guess we'll have to see what the results are as they come.

Sorry for another short elimination. I'll be back tomorrow.

Will the last of Voice Coils be chopped with the next elimination?
Will we shift to some other extras?
Will our first album track leave?

A mystery. Speculate xx

Oh and ironically, An Atrium was the most disposable of the four songs to me nn. I would be surprised if it isn't shoved off the Mitski cruiser within the next three eliminations or so. My other guess is that one of the covers could be leaving, particularly I'm a Fool, but I'd love to be proven wrong there.

Heaven's Sense was my joint highest score with You in a Place for a While by Yourself on the Voice Coils EP with a 7, but I knew these songs weren't going to last long...

She sounds fantastic though and there's a different tone to her voice than the one she mostly uses on her solo work.

Same, teebz, though I couldn't really connect to the cover either... If there was any justice Heaven's Sense would be the last song standing, but alas.
