The Other Two (S3)

A friend recommended this to me and I was really enjoying the first season until I realized that I've actually watched the second season without seeing the first one ddd (blame it on the train I was using).

The comments on here about season 3 have me worried because everything I've watched has been fantastic so far and I don't want it to be ruined. My friend says it is great though so we will see.

They've found a good balance of the more broadly comedic A plot and the more serious B plot. Molly deserves an Emmy - and you can tell she is booked and busy again, because she is in less of this season than the previous 2. I am hoping now it gets a season 4, whereas for the first 3 episodes of the season I was thinking it was time to call it quits.

I agree these most recent episodes are getting back to the correct tonal balance of the previous seasons, and I couldn't be more grateful. The show has always been ridiculous, but still somewhat grounded in reality, so I'm happy to see them dropping some of their more absurd recent antics. That said, I'm still struggling to enjoy spending so much time with the two siblings while they both remain at their most insufferable. It's clear a comeuppance will hit by the season's end, but they're both fairly painful characters at this point.

I’d disagree about Brooke only because I still find her material so hysterical while still being insufferable, but damn Carey has been unbearable this season. I know he was supposed to get his “ass handed to him” this episode but frankly I wish Curtis would have gone harder. It’s totally the point but Carey has been infuriating ddd.

Kept waiting for things to go really wrong with Cary (kinda dreading it though I'm not sure why??) but.. I guess they're saving that for the end of the season?

Episode 8 was a riot. Took them a while, but they finally got a perfectly balanced episode this season. I died at Pat...

...texting Streeter that she missed him and his "big fat dick" (and, then, realizing that was a tweet, not a text.)

My mom recommend this show to me because she loves it and her taste jumped out! I swiftly moved through the first season in two days and now onto the 2nd. I have a hard time finding comedies that hit my sense of humor but this really does it. I can’t remember the last time I laughed out loud this many times an episode like I do with this show.

You might enjoy Difficult People, too. Assuming you haven't seen it.

OK, I've seen 5 episodes of season 3 so far and the storylines kinda suck this time? Like focusing the whole thing on Brooke "doing good"? And Cary turning out to be a desperate idiot to keep his boyfriend? The same Cary that reasonably decided to cut things with the straight roommate and his boyfriend because they didn't serve him?

Also people not seeing Brooke at the party or the black and white crew of that show gradually becoming in color.... When did this show have fantasy elements?

Yep. The first several episodes were pretty off. They've gotten back on track in the latter episodes -- especially episode 8.
