Welcome to the fourth edition of the Popjustice Eurovizh Alt-Song Contest!

This contest is designed to shine the spotlight on songs that did not advance to Eurovision from their respective national finals this cycle.

We will soon discover who will join Tamar Kaprelian, Aly Ryan, and Bess in Popjustice Eurovizh history!

As always, we focus on the countries that held some sort of competition with multiple songs. So a quick hello and goodbye to the following countries who selected internally, and therefore are useless to us right now: Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, France, Georgia, Greece, Israel, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

By the way, this year, our show will be hosted by two powerhouse performers – a member of a legendary British pop group wth 7 top 10 singles to their credit, and an Emmy-Award winning star of the smash hit show Ted Lasso...

The Contest has two parts. You are welcome to participate in one or both of them.

PART I: We are starting out with 500+ songs, and we need to narrow that down big time.
In the next post, I list the 24 countries competing and their eligible songs.
Please PM me with your favorite songs from each list - a maximum of 5 per country.
Your first place entry will be awarded 5 points, second place 4, etc.
If you only feel like voting for 1, 2, 3, or 4 songs, that is fine.
The points will still be allotted as if you had ranked 5 songs.
You do not have to vote for every country in round one, you can pick and choose the ones you care about!

So that this does not drag on forever, you have until Sunday, June 4th in the final time zone to submit your lists.

PART II: The standard Eurovision voting begins, on our list of 24 songs as chosen by Part I voters.
Please send me your list of top 10 finalists, and kindly include some sort of indication of the order so I do not mess it up.

Both the Icelandic and English versions of the Söngvakeppnin entries are on the playlist (except for the one song they opted not to make into an English version). Whichever song wins for Iceland will compete in the version that it would've competed as had it actually won.

Also, there are 86 songs missing from the playlist. 75 of them were from San Marino or Moldova. They were at the very least not available on the national finals playlists made by various Spotify users. I admit I did not later try to double check that all 86 entries truly were not available.

I'm so pumped, but I know that I sometimes get behind, and don't vote for some countries' entrants. But I have completed 9 countries' playlists this year, Albania, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Spain and Ukraine. That is a pretty much a record for me, with only Italy and Ireland being completed last year, and usually, if at all, Sweden would be completed, I think the last time might or might have not been 2020, but with all of these schedule clashes, not this year. So at least 9 countries will get my votes, and I'll try with everyone else.

Just as an FYI, both the Icelandic and English versions of the Söngvakeppnin entries are on the playlist (except for the one song they opted not to make into an English version). Whichever song wins for Iceland will compete in the version that it would've competed as had it actually won, if that makes any sense. I think that is what I mean.

Also, there are 86 songs missing from the playlist. 75 of them were from San Marino or Moldova. They were at the very least not available on the national finals playlists made by various Spotify users. I admit I did not later try to double check that all 86 entries truly were not available.

Oops that reminds me –
I don't think I mentioned this at the outset, but you can vote for only some of the countries in round 1 – and in fact, you could even send just 1 song from 1 country that you want to see proceed, up to a list of 5 songs from each country (120 would be the number!)!
