Dead Or Alive just lose out on a third week at the summit. The single goes Platinum but drops 1-2 deposed by Madonna who racks up a record fifth chart topper in a row. Her second album Like A Virgin holds off the new Phil Collins album and finally overhauls Wham! and Bruce Springsteen this week only to miss out on the top spot thanks to the new Tears For Fears album Songs From The Big Chair which enters straight in at number one this week. She has to settle for a new peak of #2 for now…..
Commodores hold firm at #3 this week and rise to the same position in the UK chart. The Smiths score a second top five hit moving 6-4 to match their previous peak with This Charming Man.
Both of the highest new entries last week power into the top ten, Stephen Tin Tin Duffy returns to the top ten with a new remix of Kiss Me which previously hit #8 in 1983, it has already fared better this time moving 17-6 and Hazell Dean scores yet another top ten moving 14-7. Don Henley is held to a 9-8 climb only as a result.
