^MJ had 3 weeks at number one with Rock With You already tho (and he had 2 weeks with Off The Wall aswell!).

Is @Hairycub1969's avatar a sign of a big chart hit to come?

NEVER!!!!
It's following the TOTP's BBC4 schedule (allegedly) - if they did 1981 in sych!
(15th Feb 1981 to 7th March 1981)

If you recall last year was 1980

Rest assured that "Shaddup your face" will be nowhere NEAR my Retrochart Top 50 this time next year!

My full Retrochart for w/e 1st March 1980 will be posted in a little while, but first some teasers:

At number 38 we have a new entry from this teenage Irish band:

U2 and their debut single “Another day” – so far only available in Ireland but there are rumours abound that it might get a full UK release:

A new entry at number 30 from XTC and "Wait till your boat goes down"
This single is not on their recent album "Drums and wires" - the band have confirmed it will be a stand-alone single.
It certainly has a reggae-dub feel - have supporting The Police on tour being an influence on them?

The Chart has been extended to a top 40 this week and there are rumours that it will extend to a top 50 in the summer!

Congratulations to Blondie who score their first number one of the decade with “Atomic” but they had to fight a tough challenge from Peter Gabriel who climbs from 5 to 2 with “Games without frontiers. We’ll have to see if Blondie can hold on to the top spot next week. Cliff Richard takes a health jump up from 11 to 4 with “Carrie” and The Tourists also climb a good 7 places to land at number 6 with “So good to be back home again”

Elvis Costello and the Attractions are back in the top ten with a climb of 12 places to number 9 with “I can’t stand up from falling down” and look at The Police zooming up 16 places to number 8 with “Sue Lawley” sorry, that should be “So Lonely”, their former number one “Walking on the moon” is at the other end of our Top 40

The extension of the chart to a top 40 means we have some re-entries at the lower end of the chart:
Godiego are back with the theme from Monkey at number 29 and the controversial Kenny Rogers is at number 35 with “Coward of the county” – he has just been toppled by Blondie on the UK Mainstream chart this week.

The highest new entry of the week comes from The Beat and “Hands off…she’s mine” it’s good to see them back and it’s great to see the Talking Heads back at number 39 with the wonderful “I Zimbra”

Not a whole lot of movement in the Russronian chart this week, I'm afraid.
DAF's first version of Kebabträume (on Mute) gets to #31, and Bowie's Weill cover only just kicks Blondie's Atomic out of the Top 40 (although you might not believe it on the strength of the lo-fi live version on the New This Week list on this page - so here's the actual single, just in case any non-Bowie fans out there were wondering.)
