My Retrochart is coming up later tonight - but first some movers and shakers in this week's Cubster chart:

Number 40 - New entry for Lipps Inc and "Funky Town":
It's been number one on the Russron chart now for ten weeks and it's finally crossed over into the Cubster region:

Number 38 - New entry for U2 and "11 O'clock tick tock" - the band were in the same studio and watching Joy Division record "Love will tear us apart" recently. Ian Curtis the lead singer of Joy Division sadly committed suicide last week (18th May 1980) - there are rumours that "Love will tear us apart" will be released as a single sometime next month (June 1980)

Number 35 - new entry OMD and "Messages"
This group of young men can do no wrong at the moment. This is their third single release this year and their third hit on the Cubster chart and their most strongest song yet!

Number 12 - going back up the chart is Phil Lynott and "Dear Miss lonely hearts" - he originally peaked at number 10 but this week he bounces back up from 15 to number 12. The Cubster region seem to prefer his solo releases compared to his work with Thin Lizzy - who have just released their new single "Chinatown":

Gary Numan - We are glass
is this week's highest new entry inside the top ten - find out which position it landed at later on this evening when I reveal the top 40 in full!:

Dexys Midnight Runners get their third week at number one with "Geno" - which is becoming one of the biggest hits of the year so far. Paul McCartney couldn't knock "Geno" from the top spot after two weeks stuck in the runner up position "Coming up" tumbles to number nine this week. Hot Chocolate now climb up to number two and could yet challenge "Geno" next week. The week's highest new entry comes from Gary Numan and "We are glass" which debuts at number five. Also heading in the right direction in the top ten are The Beat, Michael Jackson, Roxy Music and Kate Bush. Going down are Narada Michael Walden and The Average White Band. The longest runner in the top 40 are The Jam and their former number one "Going underground" which sits at number 37 this week with 10 weeks in total on the chart. OMD join Prince by having two singles in the top 40 this week.

FINALLY some new top ten action in the Russronian charts: Dead Kennedys come back with a chilling new single. US indie only so far, but hopefully y'all be on board by June 13 when it's released in the UK...

Oh and what about the rising modern-pop scene in Italy where Alice (pronounced 'Ah-lee-che', of course) begins her collaboration with Franco Battiato with the awesome "Il vento caldo dell'estate" from her March album - which is still only a warning of what's about to come next winter, mind you...

I was a massive Gary Numan fan from 1979 to 1982

"She's got claws" featured Mick Khan (Japan) on bass and sax.
Roger Taylor from Queen did play drums on the "Dance" album that contains the single "She's got claws" but I'm not sure what track(s) he played on

Phil Lynott was a very versatile musician. I didn't really appreciate him at the time - except for "Yellow Pearl" and "King's Call" - but in hindsight I do think to myself - Wow! He worked with/helped out so many people in his lifetime.

Snowy White/Gary Moore/Midge Ure/Mark Knopfler/Jeff Wayne/Huey Lewis - to name drop a few.

"King's call" was written about the death of Elvis Presley in August 1977 - but it could easily refer to the death of Prince at the moment (just swap the "King" for "Prince") - cracking tune!

I think I'm going to take a bit of a breather from this for a while I'm afraid but I will definitely be keeping an eye on the thread and hopefully post a chart here and there.

I've enjoyed taking part though so keep it going @phoenix123 it's been fab!
