This got a lot of love from the commentators. Slice of Life teaches us how to spell, ‘B-O-P’. Thanks, Fergie. It’s a PCD highlight for GhettoPrincess, ‘Always loved this one. Definitely a standout among the non-singles on the album. Full of attitude and Melody actually sounds great.’ It was single-worthy for tylerc904, ‘Yassss Keri! The only real knockout that went unreleased as a single from the album.’ Filler is not a fan of the chorus, ‘Can I have a song that's pretty much just the beat in the bridges and middle 8? None of the chorus, please?’ Yes, please. Sprockrooster is underwhelmed by the culmination of the song, ‘I love the buildup to the climax in the middle-8, but the true climax is not the extravaganza as it should. A missed opportunity for Melody.’ It also ends a bit abruptly, doesn’t it? Weslicious completely disregards the existence of Flirt, ‘Best 'album' track on the debut. I would have been happy to have had this as a single.’ I also get the pleasure of eliminating another one of evilsin’s 10, so all is well, ‘HEY, chill out, girls! This is coming way to hard right from the opening and I love it! I've got a 20/20 vision and can see that this is a BAWP.’ All my tired brain can think of in response to that is Katy Perry singing ‘my vision’s twany twany.’ It’s not up to the high standards of the singles for PCDPG, ‘A good song but it isn’t really memorable compared to the other uptempo songs.Remorque is captivated by the mess, ‘What even is this crazy mess? I love it. Melody spitting out those lines at the end isn’t helping.

And then there were 20..

Hush Hush; Hush Hush (single version)

Nooooo not Flirt and Bite the Dust!

I actually love the original Hush Hush too, and there's a great song there in Halo, the production is just far too muddy.

Ashley's solo song beating Flirt and Dust is an absolute joke though.

So this was used for the intro to the TV show The City. It was tacked onto one of the numerous reissues of Doll Domination and managed to chart at #79 in the US (just 6 spots lower than Hush Hush; Hush Hush ddd).

Weslicious calls it ‘a joyous pop bop!GhettoPrincess gave it a 10, ‘I remember this being used for the MTV show’s The City opening credits but it used some of the demo vocals. I was annoyed they didn’t turn this into a proper single. I remember everyone made a big deal about Jessica and Melody getting vocals in this. It was a good mix of lead vocals here and was a shame it couldn’t save the group. Melody in particular really shines and it’s a great bop.’ I remember watching The Hills with my sister when we were little but we never couldn’t get into The City. Remorque also enjoys hearing other voices, ‘I was actually happy to hear Melody a decent amount on this re-issue track. I was initially worried this was going to sound like Takin’ Over the World (why, I really don’t know), so I was really relieved this sounded totally different.Tylerc904 stans for The City/Hills, ‘Yaaaassss Whitney Port!!!’ Looks like Filler didn’t/won’t be watching, ‘It's nice that some of the twelve billion bonus tracks have bop aspirations and aren't just ballads or pointless bossa nova covers, but I will never deliberately listen to this again.’ Slice of Life also gives it a mediocre review, ‘Bop but not really outstanding.Reboot agrees, ‘Basic but good’, as does evilsin, ‘A tad busy, still enjoyable.Sprockrooster is the lowest scorer out of the bunch, ‘Bland mostly and at times offensive on the ears (read: Melody).’ Fellow lowest scorer lemonsqueezyy is also not a fan, ‘This has aged horrifically.’ A little taste of Jessica has PCDPG wanting for more, ‘A good song but they should’ve given Jessica a line or verse and not only the intro.’ Ddd, I bet she was happy to get those few lines.

This is kinda serving me Tame Impala realness? (PCD ahead of their time, Bionic who, etc). This is a medley cover of two songs, Tainted Love, which was originally recorded by Gloria Jones and popularised by Soft Cell, and Where Did Our Love Go by The Supremes.

GhettoPrincess prefers the former part, ‘I enjoy the Tainted Love cover but Where Did Our Love Go is a shit cover/outro.’ Weslicious agrees, ‘Both Nicole and Carmit s lay their vocals here. A great cover (of Tainted Love. I don't quite get the tacked on Where Did Our Love Go outro).Filler has ha reading glasses on for this one, ‘Hard to fuck up source material this strong, but I feel like I'm listening to a slightly ill-conceived mash-up foisted on a disposable X Factor girl group shortly before they land in their second consecutive sing-off.’ Fuck, the accuracy. Sprockrooster swims against the current of the majority, preferring the latter part of the song, ‘More here for the Supremes part of the song as there are way too much version out there from 'Tainted Love'.Remorque stans a biT, ‘This is fucking fantastic. Soft Cell’s cover is a classic of the highest order (yes, I know it may be overplayed), but the girls sell this as if their life depends on it. Nicole channeling Mark Almond when Lord knows what he had taken, Carmit struggling, yet serving and Melody giving us crazy on a platter.’ However, haps is not sold on it, ‘Sorry, I love Soft Cell’s version. This can’t touch it.Evilsin seems apprehensive as well, ‘This is... an interesting rendition.’ Interesting and very cool? Thanks Britney. PCDPG points out a live performance, ‘This song is a highlight on the album. I remember watching the performance on Fashion Rocks (Hey Kaya). The album version is less superior but still very good.’ Ddd, I always forget the good sis Kaya existed. Pecans enjoys the (somewhat) diversity of vocals, ‘So dramatic. Not keen on the samples but I love the vibe of this track. Carmit and Melody getting some time to shine makes this all the more enjoyable though!’, and Reboot likes it as well ‘Very good. This used to be one of my faves on the album back when I first picked it up. I prefer the original now, though.’

This was HollyDunnSomething’s 11, ‘Easy 11 for me, I love their version of this. Melody's "Ohhhhhoohoohhh, tainted love, tainted love" is probably my favourite PCD moment. Also my boo Carmit gets a well deserved solo.’

The scores for the solo songs have all been a mess, with lots of highs and lows, but this one has been crowned as the best solo track, by quite a large margin. It’s my personal favourite as well, and Ashley has always been my favourite member. I love her tone and despite the song being pretty standard, it still pops off and destroys my bussy. Glad it made the top 20!

Slice of Life, however, is a lessor as he only gave it a 2 (!!!!!!), ‘No.’ Yes, unnie. Don’t betray me like that. GhettoPrincess serves taste, ‘Such a smooth little jam. Love her vocals and her solo album is probably one of the only decent things to come from the PCD split.’ Remorque saw Jesushley Godberts live, ‘When I saw them live it was obvious that the girl really couldn’t hold a tune when I heard her over the backing track a couple of times, but this is just such a sweet tune. She sounds soulful in parts and really tries to sell it… *bless* Justice for Toni Braxton-esque Spanish guitar jamz!PCDPG crowns is as the rightful winner of the introducing tracks, ‘I love this song. It’s very laid back and smooth but she sounds lovely. It’s the best solo song’. Evilsin is getting fed tonight, ‘This is pretty and very much my kind of a mid-tempo.’ Sprockrooster, you’re in danger, girl, ‘Yawn. ZZZZZZZZZZZ’ Filler is also reaching, ‘Is the song named after what will never happen to it?’ Let’s move to stanning Ashlegend again, tylerc904, ‘Ashley really was the underrated member. Melody was always trying too hard’ and HollyDunnSomething, Ashley has a lovely voice that was of course underused in the group.’ Weslicious concludes, ‘This was one of the bigger surprises vocally at the time. It shows Ashley has a pretty good tone to her voice and probably could have been better utilised in the group. The song itself is pleasant enough, but nothing amazing.’ I agree with the former, but the song is great.
