This song was inspired by the song Jai Ho! that appeared in the movie Slumdog Millionaire (which I highly recommend!). After hearing it, Johnny Irvine (of Interscope) and Ron Flair requested to make a pop version of it, while still maintaining its charm and atmosphere. A lot of people put down the lyrics for the English version, including Nicole and they were spliced up. It was released as The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger, dddd. It did really well worldwide though, #15 in the US, #3 in the UK and #1 in Australia. I’ve always loved this, it always goes the fuck off. Would probably be my 11 if it weren’t for my actual 11.

Sprockrooster calls it ‘a summerjam’ and Slice of Life unnie’s buss is quivering, ‘BOPPERS O'CLOCK!!! This was my shit before and I still get hyped everytime I hear this.’ This has been on my running playlist since its release. I don’t actually go running but it’s longevity is impressive. GhettoPrincess does not like its implications of trouble, ‘I enjoy it, it’s a bop and Nicole does a great job but it was kind of the big turning point in which I could tell the group was not gonna be happy in “that situation” for much longer.Remorque notes Nicole’s inability to pronounce Jai Ho, ‘When I saw Nicole credited as a featured artist my eyes rolled all the way back, but my God… This is such a fucking rush. Justice for A.R. Rahman, who’s the real star here. Nicole can’t even pronounce the lyrics correctly.Tylerc feat. 904 also notes the messy release, ‘BOP feat. Nicole Scherzinger! The beginning of the end but really an amazing/unique pop single.’ PCDPG likes the other dolls’ only part (assuming they are the ones doing the baila baila, it doesn’t sound like Nicole?), ‘I’ve never really liked this song except for the ‘baila baila’ part.’ Jai Ho hater evilsin shares his, opinion, ‘This is all over the place for me and I'm not that fond on the effect that put on Nicole's voice.’ Ok thank you!! Reboot notes that it’s a pretty out of the box song for them, ‘This is such an odd song in their discography, but I’m glad it’s there anyway. It sounds a bit messy in places, though.’ Lemonsqueezyy also recognises talent, ‘Controversy and cultural appropriation aside, I love this. Those ad-libs tossed into the middle of the second verse get me there time and time again.

Filler drags the release of the song, Brazil, graphic designers, me and Nicole, ‘"A R Rahman & the Pussycat Dolls feat. Nicole Scherzinger - Jai Ho ! (You Are My Destiny) from slumdog millionaire". That is the full artist-title tag, according to the single cover, which has no photo or anything, it literally is just that in some Tony Hawk's-ass font. And this is back when Last.fm was relevant! Brutal. Surprised there isn't a semicolon in there somehow. And even in this list for the rate, "Destiny" is spelled "Destinity". Relentless mess before we even start on the song.
...
Actually, I don't have much to say about the song itself. It's as busy and entertaining as you'd expect from a song that cheerfully introduces itself as a total clusterfuck before you've even hit 'play', but I'd probably like it a lot more if Nicole didn't inexplicably keep singing "JAY ho". There's a bloke in the background keeps correcting her, but she doesn't listen, just presses ahead with that pronunciation regardless. Rude.
’ Moving onto an even bigger mess, Weslicious, ‘Love it. It gives me a Bollywoody *see's self out*’ oh_wow_oh_wow_OH_MY_GOD.gif is all I have to say.

Can't even remember the top 5... Is it Don'tCha, Buttons, I Don't Need A Man, I Hate This Part and...?

EDIT: Oop, When I Grow Up. Don't like that song anyway, hence my forgetful nature.

Thank goodness the monstrosities that are Beep and their version of Jai Ho are finally out! (I know, VERY unpopular opinion but seriously - Beep is the best they could do as a commentary on censorship? Why bother?)

Please take this, When I Grow Up! This way PCD can get a decent score at the next Winners' Rate!! Watch it be Don't Cha and get a low score from me due to the horrible message it sends!

He/Him
Buttons or I Hate This Part would get fine scores in a winner's rate...

Each would get a 2 from me!

EDIT to explain why otherwise I look like a huge hater!

PCD came out at the time I was heavily into Sugababes and the difference in the message the bands sent to their fans in their song was mind blowing! Buttons scores low for again portraying women as commodities just there for man to do with as they please - a theme they started their career with on Don't Cha.

I Hate This Part is not that great a song with the really dumb and repeated beat and how many wonderful break up bangers came out around the same time this hardly compares to? e.i - Since You Been Gone & Stronger (Britney & Sugababes) come to mind...

I'm sorry but this is the biggest piece of bullshit I've read. How is (consensual) sexual empowerment of women (on their own accord) patriarchal? Exuding self-confidence, believing in yourself and being outspoken about sex does not mean that they're a toy for men. The notion that women singing about sex means that they are pandering and submissive to men is extremely problematic. They can sing about whatever they want to, even sex, that doesn't make them commodities.

Indeed, you are correct! I just never felt those lyrics came from them on a personal level but instead were written by men who very well objectified women? I could be completely wrong and will be more than happy to eat my hat if I am.
