Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
This was released as the 5th (!!!) single from PCD. Imagine having a 10/10 song for a fifth single. It did well in Europe/Oceania but only peaked at #93 in the US, although I’m not sure if it was pushed there. I’ve always loved this, its message, and the video. I don’t think my English was good enough to fully comprehend it when I was little, but it’s still a good and important message to have. Plus, it’s in a bop form, so a masterpiece indeed. Queens of self-pleasure.
It’s an album highlight for Epic Chocolat, ‘I think it's my favorite song from the debut album. It's sexy, empowering and Melody's ad-libs are a plus.’ GhettoPrincess is here for emancipation, ‘Yes! Girl power anthem. Nicole looks absolutely amazing in the music video.’ It hits close to home for evilsin, ‘I adore how they changed up the chorus in the end to sound it even more powerful. *cries* I don't need a man! Although I probably do...’ Any volunteers? Reboot has probably recreated the music video many times, ‘Relatable bop. Amazing hair flipping.’ Filler reveals his preferences, ‘I love chronic masturbators’. Weslicious gets it, ‘I've spent many a shower waking up the rest of the house/neighbours/street screaming along with Melody.’ Move next to me, please. PCDPG reveals ha past, ‘A very decent pop song. I never wanted to listen to this when I pretended to be a 12-year-old straight boy. Oh well, I like to song now.’ Tylerc904 makes an empty promise, ‘Yasss VV Brown!!! (I will do this a few times through my commentary).’ where_where_are_they?.gif
Remorque is the first out of our 11s, ‘Best song on the fucking album by far. Melody wailing her way through that middle 8 gives me chills every time I listen to them. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is up for discussion. Justice for horns when they were still popular.’ Horns in pop songs are everything. I still get a rush of adrenaline every time I hear the beginning of Crazy In Love. Let’s bring back horns. Pecans @s the general public, ‘I Don't Need A Man is such an amazing feminist anthem. This track is so empowering: the world wasn't ready for this sassy opus when the Dolls dropped it in 2006, as proven by its slightly disappointing chart record.’ It did okay for a fifth single but it should have been a multi-week #1 and transformed into the national anthem. Only that would do it justice. It was love at first sight for Sprockrooster, ‘I remember buying the album and hearing this for the first time. One of the few songs that was so instant. It then became the next single and wow. Everything was done so right. I love everything about this: the whole sassy and brassy concept lyrics. The background screeching from Melody. Nicole sanging her shit out of this. The video which is so full energy and in perfect sync with the song.’ You only bought the album after Buttons? HmmmT.
(Kim is missing for the promo appearances, I'm guessing she was sick?)
I'm not really a fan of the version and the dolphin noises used in live performances
