It’s time for Doll Domination’s lead single to leave, which means that Don’t Cha has been crowned as the superior lead single. It’s such a fucking banger and what a way to start off an era. It’s very Nicole-y, which was discussed a lot in the comments. It was one of the many tracks for her debut, but after her underperforming solo career, she thought the song would better suit the dolls. It was also their first song without Carmit, but it’s not like any of the others are audibly present ddd. But more on that in the commentary. WHAT A SONG.

Tylerc904 opens the can of worms, ‘The "boobies" debate. The "they're back!" of this release. The iconic video. Such a brilliant tune.’ Slice of Life does not know, ‘Is it "I wanna have boobies" or "I wanna have groupies"? Please let me know. xoxo’, to which Filler answers, ‘Remember when the title was announced and everyone was scared it would be a ballad? This is about as far from a ballad as it is possible for pop to get. What a racket. What a relief. (Addendum: "groupies" doesn't sound anything like "boobies". Why was that ever a thing?)’. GhettoPrincess brings up an interesting topic, ‘Didn’t Nicole record all the backing vocals and then fans were pissed off so they had to re-record it actually using the girls? Iconic. I barely listen to this now but it’s so much fun. I adore the music video too and the dance breakdown is a MOMENT!’ Hmm, I’ve tried looking for any data on that and I can’t seem to find anything? However, the ha ha ha/la la la parts in the video version and in the album version do seem to differ, with the video version sounding like it includes the rest of the girls, which PCDPG talks about, ‘A good pop song but I wished they replaced this with the album version with the other girls’ vocals, like they did with Don’t Cha. The dancebreak is amazing. I do feel like it’s a bit overproduced.’

Remorque shades Nicole, ‘Even though I always bop along, I’m still way too salty… The bitter taste comes from realizing that they weren’t letting the girls shine a little bit more and that it was blatantly obvious that this was a solo Nicole song. Justice for everyone but Whatever Her Name Is…!’ Dddd. Weslicious is also missing the rest of the girls, ‘Fantastic lead. My only gripe is they must have been aware of vocal share critisisms so to not even have Melody OooooOOoooOohh-ing and angrily yelling When I Grow Up over the final chorus is a choice.’ Pecans thinks it would have been good to jumpstart Nicole, ‘Nicole probably could have launched her solo career off of this. When I Grow Up is genuinely amazing; it's definitely one of their best. I'm getting camp from this.’ I agree, but I do think that it fits The Pussycat Dolls better than a solo artist. Maybe it’s because I can’t imagine a world without the video.

Evilsin shows off his Darkchild stan card again, ‘Boys call you sexy (whatsupsexy). This is probably their ultimate bop for me. And you know me, I love me some Darkchild.’ and Epic Chocolat agrees, ‘Another irresistible Darkchild banger.’ Maybe this is your match, evilsin unnie?? Reboot finds it a bit juvenile, ‘Good song. I always thought it sounded a bit too “kiddy” compared to their previous singles, though.’ and Sprockrooster stans for the best part of the song, ‘That beat is not aging well, but that is completed eclipsed by that vocal delivery and heavenly middle-8.’ It truly is. What a middle-8, what a song, what a video.

I think it's a bit obvious what songs my scores are for but I have a 6, 10 and 11 left.

It started with this

When the promo CD came out everyone noticed that all vocals...were by Nicole. Obviously this wouldn't fly since they were so obviously her backing vocals that they had the girls record for the video version:

And then the mixing was off when the mics were on here

I forgot Nicole was producing the background vocals. What a legend. Probably tried to drown them out as much as possible. I do find it weird how there was a backlash about the lead single having no one but Nicole on it then they released Doll Domination which was basically just Nicole for the majority of it and had a few unreleased solo tracks from her cancelled album. I guess it would've cost too much to re-record it all.

I stan for how much knowledge you have of the Pussycat Dolls @Mr.Arroz.
Awwww, thanks! I lowkey used to run a pretty casual fan blog during college so that's how I remember so much!

I'm screaming I just opened the mediafire account that I used for the blog for the first time in 5 years and all the media is still there dddddddd

Also, I forgot about this!

Her next album may not be dropping any time soon, but Britney Spears is dipping her toes back into the music scene, filming a cameo for the new Pussycat Dolls video.

"It's a small part," says a source about the popstar's visit to the L.A. set of the group's video shoot for their new single, When I Grow Up, on Wednesday. Possibly saving her trademark moves for her own album, Spears was not expected to dance or perform with the girls in the video.

While her recent TV meetings (she was spotted exiting the Merv Griffin offices last week) were strictly exploratory, How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris told PEOPLE at an Academy screening of the show at McGee's Bar & Grill in Manhattan, they would be happy to have her back for a third time saying, "The door is open for her."

More info from HeyBritney:

Britney Spears will make a special cameo in the new clip of the Pussycat Dolls - but, in truth, she does not interact directly with the group on the set.

The 26-year-old singer recorded her scenes for clip of When I Grow Up in Burbank, Calif., Wednesday, while the Dolls filmed in Hollywood. Everything was carefully planned, a source told the set. In the scene taped (Wednesday), Britney is conducting a vehicle. They greet and speak while in transit - and that ... is great and we will love it! Of course, Britney appears beautiful and blonde.

The Pussycat Dolls recorded their scene in a blue Chevy Impala convertible. They sing in transit - and look pretty good, the source explained.

It is a small sequence but Britney much enjoyed working with them. She really likes the music group and when she saw them for the first time at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, she was completely excited to make the video.

YES. YES. YES.

Thank you all. I hope Don't Cha is out next, and 'I Hate This Part' can stay in. I've had faith since the beginning, and seeing it top 'When I Grow Up' is so satisfying.

Also, isn't it funny how their singles include statements with 'I'. It should be 'We'. A kii considering.
