The Real Housewives of Atlanta (S16)

It’s only the first episode so obv will give it time to get used to it and see how things pan out once Phaedra comes back but right now it’s feeling a bit like a (Porsha?) spin off.

I think it would have felt more RHOA had there been another established cast member (not you Drew) to bridge the gap more/help anchor (maybe it would have felt that way had Kenya not been edited out so much). Kinda missing Kandi I think when I wasn’t even majorly fussed about her leaving.

Just felt a bit empty?

Yeah, whatever they decide to do with Kenya, they should have gotten her to film at least one round of confessionals. It seems weird to see her but not hear her POV. Overall, premiere was okay. I already complained about the cheap graphics when the trailer first dropped - they are trying to copy Dubai which is a good thing, but the Dubai confessionals had little rugs underneath the chair so it didn't look like they were floating in green screen hell. Such a basic thing but it looks so trashy without it.

I had fun with the premiere and feel optimistic about this season. Waffles had a great first episode and was my favourite newbie. I loved how she came for Porsha right out of the gate and asked the question we were all thinking. Shamea also had a strong showing—her confessional about Porsha showing up late to her party was the highlight of the episode. And then there’s Drew, acting messy with Dennis and most likely becoming the season’s punching bag! There’s potential for some fun mess and good drama, as long as they keep the season short and snappy. Knowing we’ll also get more of Cynthia and eventually see Phaedra return is exciting.

The main thing dragging the show down is the editing. You have franchises like Salt Lake City that feel slick and well-produced, and then there’s this mess. The zoomed-out confessionals and those awful transition cards are genuinely horrendous.

To my surprise, I didn't utterly hate the new season of this. Yes, its a borderline heavy reboot with Porsha carrying the lone legacy torch but as an opener with so many intros to pack in, it cracked along better than I expected.

The production values are awful, with those cheap green screen confessionals but I feel we've got some better new additions than utter flops like Drew. Kelli and Brit both seem pretty ruthless and high energy, I think they'll drive the show quite well.

They definitely need another legacy cast member to ground this, its a lot carry for Porsha but so far I consider this a more successful reboot than the misfire of Season 14 and 15.

I'm still on the fence after that premiere if I'm being honest. Kelli was starting to work my nerve by the end of the episode but I guess I can appreciate someone coming to clock into work. Britt didn't really leave an impression. Strangely enough, Angela seemed promising to me even if she/they haven't given us anything to work with yet.

It's giving Miami S4 vibes slightly, but I thought most of those girls had more charisma from the jump. With that said, I'm willing to give them this season to settle and marinate.

I really need this to be a tight and lean season; PLEASE don't stretch this season out too long Bravo.

I don't know girls, I see something here? Maybe it was a matter of tempered expectations but Shamea was a natural, Porsha brought some needed charisma and Kenya's presence anchored several scenes that could've gone nowhere. I appreciated that the connections run long term with this group of women, I think that's where I'm holding a lot of my reassurance on the season trajectory.

Special shoutout to Kenya's shit eating grin when she was talking to Drew about Dennis. I missed her so much.

Shamea should have been made a Housewife in Season 10... but I am happy and interested in her being given such a monent.
She's Rich Hunni
