The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (S14)

*I never understood this {insert PJ RH joke here} can a girl enlighten???>>*
In the latter half of season 11, they started playing "Never Have I Ever" on a yacht and Erika randomly started FREAKING OUT about how she just wants men to SHUT UP and she needs a man who can just SHUT THE FUCK UP. It was so randomly aggressive it freaked everyone out and also seemed she was insinuating that she wanted Sutton to SHURT URP.

Amazing and underrated moment.

Garcelle in Reba's house:

Garcelle interacting with Sutton’s mum was high key uncomfortable. The editors can make it look funny with sound effects and facial reactions of from the other women, but that whole initial interaction was micro aggressive as fuck. And as we see in next week’s episode, it gets worse.

Props to Garcelle for appearing to have a thick enough skin to take this sort of stuff on the chin but deep down I’m sure it’s hurtful and exhausting.

The rest of the episode was actually quite good, I thought. Kathy getting the women together just to gossip was great. I like the growing dynamic between Boz, Erika and Dorit. It really feels like the group of women have two factions now, I’m not entirely sure how sustainable that is in the long run. Erika is the only one playing both sides.

I thought the stuff with Kyle and Mauricio was lame as fuck. Clearly something they both pre-planned to film to help Kyle either control the narrative around her texting PK, or garner more sympathy from the fans because she’d been rightfully whacked a dozen times since the season started. PATHETIC!!!

The weeks episode was giving a little RHOA: Kandi’s Ski Trip and maybe on reflection pulling this out as a little spin off in that vain would have been helpful.

i really enjoyed this weeks episode. Sutton is just so authentically charming and interesting and I think what she shared this week was just so engaging and captivating. It felt so much more real than the managed “truths” that the likes of Kyle, Dorit and Erika put out.

Speaking of which, I am really bored of Dorit's separation. Scenes of her poorly telling her side of the story every episode is getting severely repetitive.

Boz is the best casting this show has had in a long time. Really looking forward to seeing her at the reunion already.

The last few episodes have been a refreshing change of pace - kind of hope the drama next week moves the storyline forward a bit and isn't a retread of what we've already seen... Dorit is starting to grate...

I don't mean to pass judgment as we only see a certain part of real lives of human people and there's definitely a LOT of trauma involved, but I was... surprised at Sutton's mom being a therapist. Maybe it's one of those cases where you can be a great professional but you forget to apply your insights onto your personal home, but her reaction to Sutton's feelings was so cold and detached.

There’s so much that I want to say to this - especially considering the work that I do, but it’s so multi-layered and would go in three million different directions. What we do for income/a profession vs. what we do for family is just such a vast pool to wade into, and for valid reasons for everyone in basically in any scenario that could be imagined.

Every moment of Reba's appearance was like a slow burning, terrifying horror film and then we got the legitimate jumpscare of her dog

Garcelle is lucky she was with Lindsay Wallace who could protect her with a quick lil bag of bricks because she was in danger.

Speaking of, Kyle's inner actress coming out to play when her and Garcelle almost got caught eavesdropping sent me.

I’m sure Garcelle is no stranger to having to navigate uncomfortable situations with white people, but damn, I have to give her so many props for how she handled every interaction she had with Reba. Every conversation, weird jab, slight, etc was met with such kindness, understanding, patience, and care - probably well more than Reba should have gotten. She actually probably made Reba more comfortable (than she deserved!) by how she handled everything. Like, she’s a saint for that one. Whew.

Yes and I know be going off on discussing race~! on this site - but I can only imagine the rooms that she’s been in (including those on this show!) that have taught her that navigation. She’s a testament of grace and resilience. Very much someone to admire.
