The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Rinna was phoning it in those last few seasons. I’d rather a boring season than another season of her manufactured drama. She was beyond due for a rest. They need to revamp the alliances and find a new source of drama.

She checked out around Season Eight and pretty much said she had and was going to take a backseat and make the likes of LVP do some work. From that point on, Rinna fell into a one dimensional cartoon character on eternal rinse and repeat.

It became utter parody and she had far too much of a stranglehold on the cast dynamics.

I had a thought the other day that the downfall of BH happened because Bravo started to get lazy with casting. They allowed the likes of Teddi, Eileen (sawry!), Kathryn, etc. to come on to the show and be boring without much repercussion because Rinna and LVP would pick up the slack by spinning often dumb storylines. Kyle, Erika and Dorit fell into their stereotypes by this point and delivered next to nothing unless the Lisa's prompted something. This inadvertently caused LVP to spin herself into the tizzy that was season 9, and then by the time she was gone Rinna was sick of carrying the show on her back and turned on Denise at the first sniff that she wasn't being real and earning what I'm sure was a huge paycheck on her name.

I actually understand Rinna's frustration, but the subject they picked Denise apart for was a huge mistake. We don't need to relitigate season 10 though so let me relax, but I ultimately think Bravo letting these women get away with so much nothingness without demoting/firing is what led to the downfall of this show. Sutton/Garcelle/Tom Girardi/Kathy gave us something the last two years but its time to get a little more trigger happy with the casting if people aren't playing ball.

They also allowed the likes of Dorit and Erika to substitute actual contribution for glam squads and vapid bullshit, which took over the show from around Season Seven onwards and where you can really see the marked shift in the casts effort.

You're totally right that they've allowed too many of them to coast along with stuff like this when they should have been nuked off the show for better blood and shaken up the survivors to stay on things. Instead, they rewarded mediocrity season after season until we ended up all the way with Teddi.

The next season is going to be a big old bore. That said, Rinna was not the secret recipe for drama and action. She was just ridiculous and it was her time to go.

Unfortunately I can’t celebrate Kathy’s last reunion appearance. The fact that she deleted text messages from her phone thinking it would also delete from Rinna’s phone is the most embarrassing Housewives act I have ever seen.

A random Eileen update...

A few years ago she semi-retired from soaps which I found strange because she was at the height of her popularity with both shows wanting her on contract. Well, she did a YouTube mental health show called State of Mind and explained it.

So basically, when she was filming housewives around 10 people who were very close to her died. I know her sister and niece died and her mom died the day before she filmed a reunion and she told nobody. Also I beliee one of the people who died was a brother, her in laws and some close family friends. She said she was so depressed with all the death she was facing that she wouldn't tell people because she didn't want to seem like a negative person. That explains the confusion of her not mentioning her moms death at that reunion.

When she left housewives, she needed time to herself to recover from all of her personal loss which is why she stopped working. She's back full time on Y&R now, but it was such a sad story to hear! I'm glad she seems to be doing much better but it's crazy how much we don't know about these housewives. I wonder how her tenure would've been if she wasn't dealing with these things off screen.
