I don't understand why Jen would've said that. I'm sure they may have contacted her, but you know Bravo hates leaks during the casting process.

Bravo and Cocktails rumor (take with a grain of salt):
There are rumors that Bravo is filming a pilot for Real Housewives of Rhode Island. It would be similar to NJ with an Italian cast. They're about to screen the pilot and decide if they want to go ahead with it. If it is successful the series would begin filming in March and they wouldn't bring back New Jersey. The reason is because of how bad the RHONY reboot did so they though a new city would work better.
It definitely sounds plausible, but we will see if it's true or not. I do think it's time for another city with Dubai going off the air and the issues with NJ and New York.

I'm into this. Give us a messy new city in an unexpected place (a la SLC) with weird women who are desperate to be famous. It's the places that aren't as well known (Potomac, Salt Lake) that have produced the best latter-day Housewives iterations.
Bizarre. Literally what is Rhode Island known for? Poor Long Island or Staten Island.
They did try Connecticut a couple years back when Bethenny was in the fold. It fell apart but I've also read that the big money in that state are not the type who would do a show like this.
I do think the prospect of a more unexpected city is kinda exciting. I see the excitement when you hear a well known city, but Salt Lake and Potomac have proven that going off the beaten path could give you unexpected gold. Maybe it's the fact that these cities are off the beaten path which allows the cast members to be more organic like old school housewives.
Las Vegas seems like a city they would have done already, but I've never been there so maybe not.
No chance Bravo would ever delve into politics, given the current environment. It’s too radioactive. I, personally, would’ve loved to see the original DC get a bit more time to grow, but today I have zero desire to watch any T*ump sycophants on television.
A friend of mine works at the relatively swanky Newport hotel / inn that the RHONY girls filmed at during Leah's first season and there were rumblings even then. They later filmed a pilot at the same venue to see if they could get a VPR / Southern Hospitality type thing with the young, attractive staffers but it never went anywhere from the sounds of it. Said friend was cast and did a bit of filming.
